Please keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers, Yesterday morning she fell down a flight of stairs while holding a drinking glass, when she hit the tile floor the glass broke and severed the arteries in here left hand along with the tendon and nerves that control here thumb, index finger, middle finger and half her ring finger. She went thought 5 hours of arterial surgery and the doctors were able to save her hand, however they said it will be a slim chance that she will regain any use at all out of it. On top of that she broke the orbital bone in her eye socket, has multiple fractures on the left side of her face and possible skull and spinal fractures. She is in for a very long and difficult road to recovery, Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and I will send out updates as I get them.

Wade, very sorry to hear this.

I'm sure it will take a lot of rehab, but there must be some hope for regaining the use of her hand (?)

I'm sorry to hear that. The same thing happened to a good friend/roommate of mine who was a waiter and fell down some stairs holding some empty wine flutes - the glass tore through his hand cutting tendons, arteries and muscle. The nearest major hospital was some 80 miles away (he lived in the desert SW) so he lost a lot of blood and a lot of time elapsed before initial surgery. The hand healed but with too much scar tissue in the palm to open and close it fully and its relaxed state appears clasped with the fingers over the thumb. He has to grip putty/stress balls several times a day to exercise the tendons and prevent fusion.

It was about 8 years after the incident when I met him, by then he could joke around about "The Claw."

You all are very kind, Thank you for the encouraging words. I will let Lori know that so many are thinking of her.

The latest info we have is

We had a consult with the plastic surgeon, she has several more fractures in her face than we orignally thought, they will make the decision today on whether to operate or not. Her left eye socket is the worst, she will be seen today by Neuro Opthamologist. She is still in an Aspen collar due to neck injuries.

Good news is, she moved her thumb last night, she could not feel it but she moved it on command, and that is HUGE.

If the plastic surgeon decides the will not operate she could be home by the weekend, if he does then probably not for another week.

She is in good spirits but a lot of pain, Again thank you all for your kind thoughts and encouraging words.
