Might be a silly idea, but has anyone taken their 400i/412/365 out on track days?

    Was it fun?

I've been thinking about taking my 400 to Lime Rock - it wouldn't be the quickest car around the circuit but it would definitely be fun. I love circuit driving - any car would be better than not doing it at all.

I think you'd need to be careful as even a minor "off" could be very expensive to fix.

Lynne and I took her 412A out at Road Atlanta and Rockingham a few times. She got a few M3's and I got a few 911's but we kept the sessions very short trying to preserve the brakes and the TRX's! The car was a lot of fun to take passengers around the banking at Rockingham. People were very surprised at the level of performance, although it would take a brave, confident and experienced driver to drift that car through West Bend and Diving Turn...

We've tracked ours. Fun on the straights, but you have to remember that it is a heavy car in the turns and 1970's vintage GT brakes aren't really meant for the track.

Fun ride, but not exactly what it was designed for.
