No, this car differs from the repro that was for sale at Auto Salon Singen. For example the headlights and the shape of the drving lights are not similar.

I don't know which car this is though. It could very well be the repro that uses s/n 5899. Or perhaps 5905 or 6105? At least, the photograph is definately taken at Spa-Francorhamps.

    A bit off this topic:
does anyone knows if LM 5975 is still at the Schulmpf museum at Mulhouse?

Without knowing where the picture was taken it is hard to say, but it might be one of the 250LM replicas claiming s/n 6045. I believe there are at least 2, if not 3 floating around somewhere

    Jarrett,

The pictures were taken at Spa, no question. Do you know where the repro 5899 is?

The Schlumpf car is certainly an original 250LM. One of the Schlumpf brothers bought the car out of Sweden in 1967 when it only had 3,000km on it....hasn't been driven much since then.

I don't track replicas, so I'm not sure. The last I heard it was with Peter Fandel in Germany, however, that was in the late 1990s. What is considered to be the "real" 5899, or at least the most original of the cars remaining that claim that number is owned by Frederico Delle Noce in Italy and is raced regularly in the FHC. This was the car that was crashed badly in 1965 and was basically written off, but then was rebuilt with a shortening chassis and fitted with Porsche Carrera 6 bodywork. In this form it was raced by Hans Illert and a few others throughout the late 1960s.

that is the 5899 replica. it is a very nice replica and has a new home in england with DK Engineering. when they bought it they put all the things that were wrong on it right, road registered it and then put it away in their barn. Funnily enough when i saw it in their workshop about a year or two ago theyalso had fred de la noce's car in for some work, quite ironic i thought!!

The 250LM on the picture is definitley not the orignal s/n5899. If it is a replica of the s/n5899 it is not an accurate one.

Check out the original s/n5899 that was racing at Spa Ferrari Racing Days 2005.
    Differences;
    - Type of exhaust
    - Air Outlout on the back of the car
    - See also for picture; http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66023

So any one suggestions for identyfing the car as mentioned in the first post?

the car in the first picture for this thread is an accurate replica (built in europe in the 90's) of a normal 250LM that carried the number of 5899 until the real car turned up, then iit was changed. it is a replica of a 250 LM using a lot of original parts or accurate reproductions. the car in your picture belongs de la noche and is the car that holds the identity of 5899 and is considered the real car, however it was involved in a huge crash in its life! the exhausts were uniquely through the body on this car from new.

if you go to DK engineerings site www.dkeng.com and look at the restoration section, then the restoration of LM 6313/6023 after its massive goodwood crash 3 years ago you can see this very car sitting next to it.

Copy, reproduction, whatever this is, it is still one of the most beautiful automotive designs of all time.

is this burned LM not the replica that was for sale in Belgium by Paul Grant ??
his garage (www.vdvgrant.be) was partly burned last year, at this time he had a 250LM replica for sale.
