Why are these cars so cheap?
Because only Mondial Fans want them. And $45K, up until 6 months ago, was considered very expensive. Probably still high for about 80 percent of the them (excluding the Mondial t market, which trends higher).
Because no red blooded American wants a sports car with backseats! blahhhhhh LOVE MY MONDI! OK funny story went to local gathering and one guy had to leave early and he had brought the cooler so my remaining 328 friends were leaving with the passenger holding 48 quart cooler on his lap....so I politely stated how fn cramped they looked for their 40 miles journey now they realize the extra space of the mondi is worth it! im always invited along now!
Cab or Coupe? For a well presented and maintained 3.2 needing only a service that includes belts (probably valve adjustment as well) your offer is very low ball.
The Mondi is a very usable car just because it's a 4 seater and with a decent size boot to. We have on the market today lots of 4 seater sports cars from some of the biggest manufactures. The Porsche Panamera is one that comes to mind because I've driven one in Germany, on the autobhan, flat out one Sunday morning. 4 seats, dead comfy and goes like utter stink it does. Yeah, maybe the styling is a bit hmmm but still a supercar with 4 seats. A 4 seater makes sense because it's practical so if that isn't what a buyer wants then there are other models to go for. I was very surprised how nimble and drivable my Mondie is 4-up. Even pushing her hard on the narrow and twisty country lanes of the UK, 4-up my Mondi performs really well and can deffo deliver the thrills you'd expect of a Fcar just my 2 cents worth, Jeff
Im so glad the quasi sports car enthusiast is clueless on the Mondial. Mine screams perfectly in so many languages and is exquisite while just sitting still. The car just makes so much sense. But, Please dont become popular, i hate popular. Enjoy the ride.
honestly i never liked the mondial when I was kid...I thought it looked boring and was kind of lame....but now as an adult I see them completely differently...the looks are classy and understated, it is somewhat practical and it makes all the right noises....these cars may not ever be super collectable but they aren't going to stay cheap forever
Mitchell I dont think people are familiar with your cars Ive seen your other posts. A good comparison is the 400 the "avg person" doesnt quite understand it hence the market value Mondials have been treated like the Ferrari stepchild in the marketplace
Neither fish nor fowl ... too loud to enjoy a radio or stereo even with the stock exhaust, but lacking the power of a real driving machine. Too small to be a true family car, too big and heavy for a sports car ... and there are plenty of them around, many have been undermaintained because the people that buy them can't really afford a Ferrari.
bundas... I agree it never hurts to low ball...make your offer and see what the seller comes back with...if you're lucky maybe he will take a low offer! Good luck!
Hi Russ, the 300 HP is plenty power for me...it has been more of a 'real driving machine' than my old S2000 (AP1) and I prefer it over the NSX (exotic gold standard circa 1990) Driving the NSX is great, but it lacked the soul of the Mondial. It felt like dating the valedictorian, the Mondial feels like dating the 'bad' girl with the tattoo. I'm sure somebody else can come up with a better analogy, but that's really how I feel about the two. As for family car...let me say I enjoy driving the Mondial over the Toyota Sienna with the kids in the back any day! Although I admit it's not for everybody, and boy am I lucky about that! As for many being undermaintained...this sadly is true.
Spot on Paul. The comment on the bad girl made me chuckle but that is Italian vs. Japanese cars for sure. Cheers, Greg
