the upper limit is set by an adjustable stop on the toothed mechanism (driven by the motor), the computer senses the motor current and stops it, also when driving over a certain speed the motor blips the window up to ensure a seal.
You will need to take the door cover off to access it. There is a procedure using the key in the door to allow the window computer to learn the limits. With the door closed use the key in the door - hold it towards the front and the window will open to the limit, and then hold to the rear and the window will close to its limit, you may be able to push the closing window so it is inside the door seal. it will stop the motor when it reaches the limit imposed by the window seal.

I believe the upper limit is set by the ECU learning when the window reaches the seal. At least that's the way it worked for mine. I didn't see any upper stop, nor could I find a reference to it when I reset mine.

Great, thank you very much. Will look for the stopper, do you know where exactly it is located?

Hello Hard to tell from the diagram, but it may be item 13. On my mechanism someone had welded some extra metal onto it to give additional adjustment,
it may be that it is an overriding stop and the comment by Chris (post 22) is correct. Try the reset process 1st, and as it reaches the upper rubber seal push on the top of the window to ensure it goes into the seal and does not bypass it as per your photos.

My window went too high when out of alignment, after adjustment I did exactly as you said (pushing glass on closing to improve the seal.) After letting it sit for a while (and let the new gasket form to the window) all was well. I didn't have an upper limit that I could see, and don't see it referenced in the Ferrari guide. If the ECU learns from a stop, why have an upper stop? Shouldn't the closing into the seal be enough / better / easier?
I'd be happy to upload the Ferrari TSB for further clarification, but it's too large to attach.

Chris- You can convert it to jpegs and post it that way. I have been doing that for years.

Hello All, I checked a spare mechanism I have and there is a stop which is adjustable.

It is a round 1 inch pressed washer sits on the inside side of the toothed lever. It is fixed by a nut and bolt in a slotted hole to adjust up and down. It may be purely used to be the lower limit - but as mine had be made more oval (with welding slag) than round it was both the lower and upper stop.

So I am thinking it should only be the the lower stop and a over-riding upper stop if the window bypasses the door seal.

    Great, thank you very much.

Could you share a picture of the stop?

Correct - #13 is called "STOP BUFFER" - the question is weather it acts as the "upper" or "lower" limit.

Hello Sully, I've found the stopper, but it seems on mine the bolt goes through the "plate".

Is your conical and then press fits into the plate/ring?

    Thanks

I know I am raising another thread from the dead....but do @sully456 diagrams follow the logic in the 456 window??

One of the problems is that the split arm, which is supposed to be straight, is bent because the hinge pin is not strong enough. A slight bent is enough for the window not to fit.

@francschman good point and I have my regulator out now... and see some "flex" in that arm... any solution to strengthen it up?

The pivot pin needs to be replaced with one made of steel, TIG welded in place. I've done a few. If done right, it's a permanent fix.

I copied the original design but modified the split arm so that it can be rotated a bit, which in my case was sufficient to create a perfect fit for the window. Together with @Salami I considered making a series of these but decided against it, as I found the mechanisms needed too many additional components (balls for the ball joints, hinge pin, rivet, bronze bushing, thin brass washers) and fiddling with with to make them work perfectly. But anyone with access to a lathe and tig welder should be able to make their own. I can send the CAD files of the arms to anyone interested.

So I have replaced the center spline pivot with a steel one.... and now having a devil of a time adjusting the window. It still wants to rotate down in the front and up in the back causing the rear top of the glass to come "up and forward" creating a gap and wanting to damage the upper window seal.... it seems to also be pushing out at the top rear? What are all the adjustment points.....has anyone made all the adjustments. It seems to want to "slide down" on the front vertical slide?
