Just skimmed through them, didn’t see a lot of obvious duplicates (I didn’t notice any) but there were 10 Spiders included. So I’m guessing approx 4X number of Pistas for sale relative to Speciales. Just thought it was interesting after watching a YouTube video about Speciale by Romans International that piqued my curiosity about the market.
I'm shopping Italias/Speciales and noted prices have increased 5-10% over last 3-4 months. Not seeing same w/Pista.
Pistas for sale don’t stop growing and obviously prices are tightening, Speciales are disappearing steadily at steady price. These are facts. Pista is terrific and ultra fast and ultra everything but.. Friend of mine has both and puts both on track often. When he pops out a Pista he is sweating and overwhelmed, when popping out of a Speciale, he is smiling and willing to share the experience. Couple of weeks back I tried a SF90 on track. Is faster than Pista? Of course! Is more effective? Sure. Is more capable? In every sense! But would never consider to buy such a car sooooooo out off my driving limits and skills. I do not enjoy being driven instead of driving. Blonde or brunette??
Once these cars get to a certain age you can do that. I had similar experiences with other Ferrais in the past.
Private party recently listed Italia on Autotrader @ 197k. So many inquiries he let buyers bid against each other and sold @220k. I know of a Speciale that sold 3 yrs ago for 335k that recently sold again w/4k more miles on it for 352k. Last week I considered making offer on 458 Spider and overnight the dealer decided to raise price 10k w/o notice. All 458 variants are going up.
and promptly, today I got a letter from PA saying my insurance lapsed and I needed to send them a notice of sale. So I guess I’ll be paying taxes. Mother f**ker
Tell me about it … am starting to look for a 2018 white Porsche GT3 manual - found one out East last week - same thing, overnight price went from $170 to $182. Was dragging my feet because I'm waiting for April 15 ( taxes ) … they didn't even have time to put photos on their website - car is gone. See above MDS
A couple pix. My friend loves his Pista...and he just bought a winery. And my Speciale in front of the mountain home. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
All about looks is an extreme statement. An average performing, gorgeous car is not as desirable as a steller car that is highly attractive. Aesthetics in a super car must reach a lofty level in order to be sufficiently desirable to own. But the performance must be commensurate with the appearance. In this age of wokism, analogies of a car to a women are inappropriate but I am going to make one in any event. Most men would be adversed to marrying an unattractive women with a heart of gold. Conversely, a stunning women who is vapid and evil, would make a very poor choice for a long term mate. However, for the majority of men looking for a mate, appearance must at a prerequisite level in order to consider for a long term partner. Jo Sta7 and I, are highly fortunate to have the best of both worlds where physical beauty of our partners is matched by their goodness of character.
For those who choose a mate or a car based solely on appearance, heed this warning- you will only enjoy pleasure until morning.
I know many worship the Speciale because it has a NA engine (or because they own one...), but the plain fact is that Pista currently sell for much more than Speciale. Speciale loss less money not because they are more sought after than Pista (otherwise they'd sell for more) but because Ferrari was far more reasonable when pricing Speciale than when pricing Pista.
I think one must buy what sings to them. Looks is certainly a big criteria and performance to go along with is important too. For me, the Pista is my perfect sports car. It's fast enough and has way more performance capability than what I can utilize. Its pretty comfortable for what is, it looks great (in my eyes at least), and it checks all the boxes for what I'm looking for in a sports car (for now at least). I think resale value needs to take a back seat with these cars as the enjoyment you get out of them more than makes up for any depreciation you pay for. Sure, there are faster cars like the 765 or the 720, but I think what makes you feel good is all that matters. Like how Coincid feels about the 765, that's how I feel about the Pista. I understand why the 458/Speciale crowd loves them so much. Not the fastest or quickest car around the track, but the overall experience of an NA soundtrack is something else. Same goes for the GT3/GT3RS. Not the fastest car for sure, but the driving experience is fantastic. I really miss my GT cars... just my 2 cents. Cheers.
Pista is beautiful, no doubt about it. If I kept mine I would have lowered like you did and added the exhaust and perhaps even a tune otherwise the car is perfect.
We all desire supercars that are fast and offer stellar performance. Ultimately, the essence of owning these cars is the emotion and thrills they engender.
I agree with your comments and also think its about the level of appreciation one can maintain, as time passes by and new models are launched. I love the 458, Speciale, same as I do 993 S&T's, but if I had one I would have no doubt sold for a newer model by now. Guess I will be 'old' when that changes
