Looking for any and all changes (no matter how small) over the production years for the 488 GTB. Thanks
I would consider such comparisons cautiously (not only because I own a 2015 488 GTB ) - a recent lap time recording of an F8 (with MT IIRC) has been slower than the 488 one, recorded with an early 488... and I do not believe the early 488 is faster than an F8, imagine a recent 488 faster than an early 488 and therefore even more faster than an F8? Regarding performance, today the 488 (whatever its production date) can run on Pista tyres, improving grip provided they are at the right temperature, while originally there were no high performance tyres available (and Ferrari provided press cars for track tests with 458 Speciale tyres, not homologated for the 488, resulting in better results in press tests and some critics by journalists...)
I would not trust a Ferrari delivered to a press test as stock. Yes I know the press cars used for magazine tests were on Cup2 tires and so was the F8. Thing is for road course use 665hp or 700hp is not going to get faster lap times, especially at Laguna. Even though the same driver drove both cars...3 years apart...the track conditions vary wildly. Also car set up varies and it has been reported that the F8 was having brake issues even after a brake rebuild at the track and track driving is all about balancing the car with the brakes into the corner. The 2016 vs 2019 488 comparison I am talking about is at the 1/4 mile. Both stock cars running same day and the 2019 was turning faster 1/4 mile times. That’s about as good of a comparison you can get in pure acceleration. You mentioned you own a 2015 488.... 2015 mid engine Ferrari was a 458.... typo?
My 488 is an early model I got in September 2015 (it has about 10,000 miles now) - not sure how to qualify it regarding MY, the 488 unveiling was in February 2015 (and March at Geneva) even though I don't think any delivery took place before July.
In us, a September car will be a following year model car. So here in the states, your September 2015 car would be a 2016 model year car. In Europe it might be different.
