I got my VIN recently, but no year assigned to it that I know. Which number in the VIN is the year designation? Mine was just painted as well. Try Googling your VIN and it may tell you what year the car is. I'm guess it will be a '21
Pennsylvania? I assume by the time it gets here, it will be close to winter .I hope he gets a chance, so we pray for some mercy from the Gods of winter.
The deposit is for an allocation. This varies significantly from dealer to dealer. First order has to be accepted by factory and then they start the build. It depends on how many are in front of you on that specific dealership. I placed my deposit early March. Unfortunately, COVID hit and slowed everything down to a stop of about 2 months, then a slow start while suppliers got things back on production. My order was accepted in August. Build started in September and my car is on the ship as we speak. I was one of the lucky quick turn around. Some people have waited a year or a little over a year to get theirs. There is no way to know until your order gets accepted (10 Red) and you get the build notice.
The deposit does not mean you have locked a spot and your spec is progressing to build phase. Just wondering what the average # of months people wait post deposit to progress...
If you sign a deposit for allocation, it does mean you have locked in a car. It just doesn't guarantee you in how much time. I went to a dealership in which, If i had chosen to leave a deposit, it would have taken a year or more just to get my allocation started. I went to another one and I got an allocations relatively right away, if it wasn't for the viral outbreak. Mine from deposit to start build (with 2 month COVID shut down), 5-6 months. From deposit to expected arrival 8-9 months.
Paid deposit 10 days ago. Was offered allocation and to confic right away. Declined as I needed time to plan. Am told that I can just let them know when I'm ready. Will probably config before Xmas. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app

The thing is that the dealer can doba lot to move you up or down. If a dealer wants to, he can stick you in the next build slot if he wants, even though the nrxt guy in line for it have waited 18 months. Sobas you say, it varies greatly from dealer to dealer, because they are directly in control. The only other thing that matters is how many build slots that dealer gets allocated. You're stuck if the dealer doesn't get a build slot from Maranello. My dealer gets slots frequently, so if you are moved up things happen fast. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Speaking of F8 Spider colours. What does everyone think about a Viola Hong Kong F8 Spider? Resale is not important in this question what so ever - I don't give a rats on what the next guy wants. Only from a purely visual and astethic standpoint. Just curious. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Exactly what I meant when I said it varies from dealer to dealer. His best bet to get the slot sooner is to go to the less known, less busy dealership. Chances are you can get your allocation sooner and it can be moved down to your convenience with the caveat that they may slide 1 or 10 cars before you. Ferrari is known to be the one in control and, potentially, if they are ones to follow the patterns, when you snob them, they will snob you back. Ultimately, Ferrari S.p.A. has the say of when.
