Close to a nice 166 donor in Texas. While I really want to build or buy turnkey unit, just not sure, I seem to have too many cars already. The newer engines have more durable timing belts with a five year service interval. Five years comes up really fast, a more frequent t-belt change would not be fun.
Are you set on group 4 round arch body work? I went with green but may be painting it the chardonnet blue in the top right.
That's the way I remember seeing them in the 1980s. Go for it! I'm holding off. I have too many cars right now. Although it's interesting what I've kept and what I've divested. Matt
I very clearly remember an orange Stratos on a local showroom floor sometime in the mid-1990s. I can't remember the price, but it looked like the red car in the bottom row, but without the periscope. Matt
Lol! How long is the waiting list now? If you get in touch with Craig he may be able to get you into a completed car. Prices have been on the rise lately for a finished LB STR.
I don't think it's that long of a waiting list, and the delivery is relatively short, compared to Ferrari standards. I'm sorely tempted, but I have too many cars! Matt
Hi Matt & kens, fastback, Just checking in here to read how you are doing, what you are thinking, keeping the dream alive.. ..on my end, an LB STR purchase has met with a delay, but still remains very much on my priority list. I just liquidated an investment account (on Sept 1st no less!) for a car I've been after a year and finally became available, had to pounce: A 1977 Maserati Khamsin 5-speed, an original NY car two hours away, bought from Bob Grossman. It needs work, which I will give it this winter and have ready for next summer's driving season. I'll keep checking in here, Cheers, - Art
Congratulations on the Khamsin! Right now the LB is a day dream for me. I own eleven vehicles now, which is too many to maintain, keep track of, and insure! Matt
Well done you! If you don't own any Gandini designs yet, that should move the LB Stratos to the top of your shopping list... ;-) I'm "only" at 6 classics. I know what you mean about just keeping up with their basic needs... - Art
Be sure and join Stratos Enthusiast Club once you order your car. Progress has been relatively slow on my car for a lack of motivation recently and I picked up an A110 at the beginning of the year and have been enjoying that. Hopefully I can get the car to a roller and paint status by next summer!
