https://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/listing/1993/ferrari/512--tr/2068324?utm_source=FSBO&utm_medium=Instagram&utm_campaign=VDP2068324 1. Is this a euro car? The sidemarkers look terrible. 2. Is the reason the asking price is so high due to the shields and optional wheels?? Shouldnt a TR with that mileage be closer to $180k?
It doesn't matter how nice it is, it needs a $10k carrier gear so the price actually reflects that not to mention a new set of proper wheels which were still available the last time I checked.
no, the F shields on the fender have been only for japan I think so. but it seems to be a garage queen even with 23.000 miles, so nothing to drive much. also it not says when the last major have been done
Very overpriced imo.2 cars for sale in The LA area with same miles for 160-170 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
over priced the shields were put in like I had on mine mine were hand hammered in flush and its not a V-12 its a flat 12, if they don't know that what else don't they know ? it will need a service among other things offer $100k and be prepared to walk away Bring a trailer has the true pricing on the cars CAV and FML are inflated pricing which doesn't reflect the true market get a 512 TR if you can the early series one TR has lots of issues its your money so spend it wisely I have over 100k miles on 512 TRs so I know them ( see picture) I am not a washer or a waxer the cars were made to be driven PM if you have any questions good luck Clyde Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agreed, except that BAT has a price point on the car not necessary the true one: very few 512’s out there ...for me that car is 160-170k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There are a few Red 512’s that have popped up $160-170k (couple of them were overseas also) but a serviced NON red car with sub 20k miles and or a great service history will bring more. A Black one was just listed at $199 that looks nice
many years ago I was sitting at my station as flight engineer on a B-727 the passengers were boarding and a man and his son came into the cockpit the son asked me " what type of plane is this" I said its a B-727 the son then asked "how many engines does it have" ? before I could answer the dad said " its a 727 it has 2 engines, a 737 has 3 engines and a 747 has 4 engines" so I then said to the dad, then how many engines are on a 707? what I didn't know at the time was that this individual is on Ferrari Chat !
Ferrari’s can be ordered Bespoke. To say the shields are are not factory “could” be false and to say known factory optional wheels are not “proper”, I think is a bit odd. Prices are not static and the seller I am sure is just throwing a number out there. I remember 10 years ago when many forum posts scoffed at $90k for a 20k mi 512TR as being overpriced, then within a year or two later as prices went into orbit the same usual suspects called $200k well bought and a bargain. To the OP - Buy and pay what you like and what most of all in the end makes you happy. People around here come and go, so value the majority of the advice from these posts for the price you paid for them...zeeero
technical it is a V 12 in 180 ° but look like a flat. may be there are some lauguage problems, but a flat engine for me is like porsche has with the boxer or also teh old VW beetle and subaru, so each connectting rod has an own part on the crankshaft not like a V engine where always 2 connecting rods are on the same part of the crankshaft have a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat-four_engine
Would it be fair to consider those wheels factory optional, since they were made for the japanese market TR's? It's "almost" like the 550 with Barchetta wheels.
But I think what you assume being a "true" flat is a boxer - to me it does not have to be, otherwise there would be no need for the "boxer" name (that's why for me flat means flat and V means V, boxer is a particular case of flat and there is no 180° V engine - there are only boxer and non-boxer flat engines).

one of those things I don't think a right or wrong answer. I think 180 V12 the most appropriate so it isn't confused with Boxer engines, which it isn't and usually reserved for "flat". https://www.autotrader.com/car-news/yes-ferrari-testarossa-used-v12-264993
Well in the airplane world Where I come from A&P and AI) It’s an opposed engine in other words Flat If you car guys want to call a flat engine, which I have done numerous services on, and it lays flat on a bench a V so be it But there in no V in that motor what so ever Anywhere
I think boxer was a term used by the Europeans The horizontal opposed engine in every light Cessna is called just that a flat engine Then same configuration as in the TR and 512 TR The only difference is the valve train on the airplane engine And it’s air cooled Other than that It’s the same Layout Where guys get the V from is beyond me They would never pass an oral exam on engines calling it a V
The connecting rods have nothing to do with it It’s the overall configuration of the engine what defines the engine Flat V Round For 4 cycle engines these are the basic configurations
