I noticed a leak on my 575 right valve corner on the corner. It is not the cam seal. I see a previous wrench has smeared red silicone around the corners on both sides. I read a couple of posts that refer to this corner sealing problem. But not what the cause maybe or the best course of action Is this a design flaw? An installation issue? I am assuming it weeps when the oil is standing and accumulates in the corner.... Any quick fix?
Many times, just tightening the fasteners will help since the fasteners use a very low torque value and tend to loosen over time, just like the plenum fasteners.
When they changed to the circular format, not enough of my 575M was showing to be worthwhile, so what the heck.
All bolts are torqued to spec, so that did not do it for me. I am coming up for the 5 year belt service so at that time I will do the gaskets as well, but is it more of a poor design or a very touchy installation?
The sealant you see at the corners is part of the installation. There are 6 spots on each cover that need sealant. So to answer your question, while not difficult, it is not as simple as just placing the gasket down and putting the cam cover on. You also have to trim the gasket to fit since it is 3 pieces, but comes as 1 piece. Image Unavailable, Please Login
