Thank you, for the not really overly deserved compliment, but I appreciate it. We just do and learn. No challenge too big We just stopped '61 XKE, for the remainder of the year, 3 years in the making, all that was good on the car, was the firewall and the trunk. Now, it is Dino non stop. It will be completed, then, of course still have to build it together with 01104, a la Henry Ford, on an assembly line. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thank you, yes the Jag is absolutely great. It is not an outside latch, still, a very early Series 1, welded louvers. My father in law was the Jag dealer here, and this one, is one of two extant in the country. All the others were taken to the USA by 'smart' Americans. We had to build a 'birdcage' not to lose reference points, before removing complete floor, Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just for fun... The only D Type ever sold around here. The price then, was $10K with taxes included. The one on the far R. is my father in law, next Miss El Salvador, next one, who knows, fourth in line the happy owner, last one in line my uncle. This car was raced in the Cuban Grand Prix, 1958, by Trintignant, as the owner did not have the 'proper racing license'. Fangio had been kidnapped at this race by the Castristas. Timo, you are not focusing on the important facts, D type, Fangio, Castro, bla bla bla Could have been a Solifer displayed, and you certainly would have noticed, no? Regards, Alberto
I am getting the picture. No one cares about the D type, you dirty scoundrels! Fully agree though, she is sensational, the Miss that is , not the Jag... My Dad told me all about her Well, she came in 2nd in Miss World '55. Miss England doesn't look too happy Here's another for your fun... Image Unavailable, Please Login
^^ See, right content, context and staying focused on them is important. BTW, it’s not just “World”, it’s “Miss Universe”. I recall having met the first, but I was too(?) young at the time to fully appreciate the significance. I believe she now lives just a couple of hours from here. OK, OK, you can get back to your cars now...
Back to cars, sigh... Nose coming along nicely. still need the Trapezoid shape at the bottom of radiator, and attachment points. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login
More progress...Now nose is one piece, with grille openings taking shape. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for the 'Likes'! Easter starts tomorrow, first Easter in my life spent at home. It is 90 f. so in the pool. Could be worse. Next Monday, work resumes. See you then. Happy (?) Easter! Regards, Alberto
Just for fun, found this in a box of parts that came with Dino. Factory option, battery protector Unbelievable Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alberto and not a sheet metal roller in sight when it was made by Ferrari. You say factory option? i was led to beleive it was standard fitment as the part is in the TAV sheets although my euro 246gt doesnt have it. Best tony
Tony, so I have a very rare 'original' factory part? 03724 is a USA model, so possibly just for that market? You are right, it was rolled on a tube... Anyone have a photo of this item? I will look up the parts book. Best, Alberto
Well Tony , and here it is, number 4. Not showing, are the two screws that attach it at the top, to the front of the batchboard./ Tried to flip the image, but did not work It was attached at the bottom to the solid rod that goes around the perimeter of the nose, not an easy feat, as suddenly it goes tri-dimensional. Possibly it was not as you can tell the butchery with the nose as it was. Possibly it was only held at the the b. board? Anybody knows? We shall repeat it and make a new one, easy enough as the template is there, it just needs to be rather badly done as per original. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login
My Euro didn't have it but that doesn't mean much after 47 + years. I made a much better deflector from3mm ally sheet and lined the outside with heat reflector material, I always thought it was a bad place to locate the battery given the heat emitted from the radiator. It's hard to replicate factory original equipment. Best tony
On 2nd thought, fibreglass would be easier to attach, and lightweight too. I think I will give it a shot, as with the original it is tedious to attach it at the bottom, or is it held just up top? Regards, Alberto
Dont know but its a much better idea Alberto, with just top fixings i guess it will have a tendency to rattle & vibrate Best Tony PS if you are making them i reckon if they are black gel coated they would look great, i'll have one if you do make them from fibreglass.
