Hello everyone just introducing myself to the forum! Last week I picked up my first Ferrari - a 2003 360 Modena F1 Car. Corsa red with Beige interior. Only modifications are an exhaust system (still trying to figure out who made it) and the Challenge rear grille. It was a 2 owner car (now 3 owner car) with 24K miles and good service history. Before I had it delivered up here, I had the full service, clutch and ball joints done by Damien at Calabasas Motor Cars (super, super nice guy) who ironically had also been servicing the car for the previous owner. Love the car so far and it's been nothing but an awesome drive for the ~ 700 miles I've put on it so far. It had the sticky interior, which I mostly have taken care of myself pretty easily. Other than replacing the radio and a set of Challenge carbon F1 shifters I'm going to leave it stock. Here she is on delivery day - my kid decided she wanted to take some pictures with it, too. Awesome car! Drive the hell out of it and enjoy it! I'm always out in my 360 when the weather is decent. Any excuse for me to get her out for a drive and listening to that V8 sing!
Yeah you are going to love this car. Mine is an 01, but a clone of yours. I doubt if you, or any of us, will ever get over that feeling when you get into the car, start it up, and drive. There are times when driving the car I look down at the steering wheel, with that yellow disc in the middle, and almost hyperventilate thinking I'm driving a Ferrari, and it is my Ferrari. Guess I should say it is our Ferrari and include my wife. Have fun. CB
You and I pulled the trigger on very similar cars at nearly the same time. Also my first exotic. Welcome aboard. I just recently joined here myself.
Funny you ask this! I put the offer in on this car the same day the C8 was announced. And that car did give me pause on buying this one. I had to think about it. I had a bit of a tough negotiation over this car, and in fact I did at one point tell the seller if my offer wasn't accepted I was just going to bank the money and buy a C8.
I *TOTALLY* agree! I own over 25 cars of different makes (sports cars, modern cars, muscle cars) and I'm surprised how different this one is. I was sort of expecting to be disappointed if that makes sense - but so far I love it.
Congrats, for me the 360 is the first modern V8 Ferrari - when introduced it was really a breakthrough; older cars have their appeal but as classic cars, so they don't get much use nowadays. A 360 is still perfectly usable so it can be enjoyed for what it is, a performance car and not a museum piece.
Another similarity with our buying experiences. The C8 Corvette really gave me pause. The money would have been nearly the same, and I knew I'd pay WAY less in maintenance on the Vette. But those Ferrari lines... and that Ferrari mystique... and the fact that I see a Corvette on the road almost every single day. Had to go with the dream. I can get a Vette anytime. The Ferrari, not so much.
Yeah for me it came down to - I wanted not only a Ferrari but THIS Ferrari - and owning and driving Corvettes in the past I already had that experience. Plus, I figure three years down the road C8's will be even cheaper so I can always pick one up then. They aren't making any more 360's.
