Their official Ferrari color is yellow... they could have launched a yellow too along with the traditional Italian racing red.

Enough about 720S. However, testament to the car and brand by the amount of attention it gets on a Ferrari forum.

I like the "pointedness" of the (upper level) of the nose but they really should not have done that step down below the lights - looks like what mass producers are doing, especially Toyota with its Corolla and such.

I say this more as a disappointed observer than a put down but really too bad as the rest of the car is a pretty good improvement over the 488 in terms of its overall execution and feel of quality.

Now 15. I'm sick of reading the detractors dribble too. Back to the F8 and I arranged a media pass for a friend who is at Geneva now and should have photos for me in the next hours.

It DOES look better vs the 488. It will perform better....so you 488 folks, what would the cost difference have to be for you to not want to upgrade?

I think this is a question thats difficult to answer. Lets assume that the 488 was being phased out and the F8 was the replacement - similar to the 488 replacing the 458. Id be much inclined to trade in my 488 for the f8 knowing that Ive got 4-5 years of runway with the "new car".

But seeing as this is a car that is a stop gap for the real replacement and in a year or so will be old news, I have zero interest in trading and will just keep my 488 for now and trade in/upgrade for the eventual 488 replacement.

You are looking at this the wrong way. "Upgrading" to the Tributo will short circuit the 488 coupe depreciation curve before they move into the replacement.

So, you will save money by "upgrading". My thinking is this is part of the reason they are doing this. Its a bridge to the new car.

Looks stunning IMO and will see it in person very soon. I have been very impressed with Farrari's internal design team of late. BB should be insane if they have used a clean sheet design

I think the F8 is not a stop gap car per se with an abbreviated lifecycle.

    Reasons:

    a. Starting 2021, Ferrari has an agreement for each car it sells into the EU to measure 277g/km CO2 output:
    refer to page 58 here:

    http://corporate.ferrari.com/sites/ferrari15ipo/files/ferrari_nv_annual_report_12.31.2018.pdf

    relevant text:

In 2014, the European Union set new 2020 emissions targets, calling for 95 percent of a manufacturer’s full fleet of
new passenger cars registered in the EU in 2020 to average 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer, rising to 100 percent of the fleet in
2021. The 2014 regulation extends the small volume and niche manufacturers derogation. Pursuant to the derogation approved
by the European Commission following our petition, we are required to meet certain CO2 emissions target levels in the 2017-2021
period, reaching a target of 277 grams per kilometer in 2021 for our fleet of EU-registered cars that year.

    b. Pista output is 282g/km (per Ferrari's configurator page)

    c. F8 is not 720cv on 'pump gas' but on 98octane here here:

    https://magazine.ferrari.com/en/cars/2019/02/27/news/reveal-ferrari-f8-tributo-54421/

    d. As long as F8 measures no more than 277g/km CO2 output (which is quite likely, it is still being determined) it can survive the "2021 EU regulation barrier"

    so, we'll see

You would be happy trading your 'old' 488 Ferrari for a V-6 powered 2021 replacement edition? The F8 is still superior in some respects to the 488 replacement.

Keeping in mind that some 488 owners went back to a 458. Plus still other buyers are only sampling the delights of a 458 for the first time and seem very happy about that turn of events for them...
