RN.... I joined here in June 2003, and the NY Tristate was already established FWIW.
Well... according to the calendar, I'm considered an "old-timer" on here. Hard to believe it's been that many years.
August 2011, more than half of my life at this point. Unfortunately, as life has caught up with me (now married with kids, a dog, a house, a company, etc), I barely have time to sleep, let alone post. I'm pretty sure I have less hours in my day than most of you. Nevertheless, I hope everyone's happy + healthy.
I saw this thread and looked at my profile. 2006. It’s been a long time here! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Been here since 2007, and still no Ferrari. But I still have my cool jacket from the 1977 USGP at Watkins Glen. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lots of old timers here! It is amazing how in the early days you could read all new posts for the week in a few minutes.. amazing how the site has grown over the years..
Hi Vernon, I was there to play your spectaular course. Probably had one of my worst days, but, that's golf. I do remember Brad's Burburry plaid pants, burned my eyes. Vern, I remember when you flew up in the your plane and jumped in Rijk's Daytona to meet up at an event in eastern LI. Met Kenny H.(His dad drove him there, a kid you knew would go far, he was an adult at 14ish) at John Arrens party in 2001 along with Bruce W, Len, and a few other guys who I have not seen in eons.
Buddy use to go up from SUNY Binghamton in 77, 78. We both grew up in Woodbury, went to Syosset HS. We were in a small group of F1 followers back then. Where on the Island did you grow up if you were born there?
I haven’t checked out the tri state area part of the forum in awhile. I typically just read/participate in the aviatorchat section as my interests have shifted from cars to airplanes over the years. I saw a lot of familiar names posting here and figured I would too.
How could anyone forget those pants. I forgot about that bLI run in the Daytona. Some fun times for sure
I still have my ROE hat from 2007, I think. That was Sam's run out to Galluccio Vineyards in Cutchogue,, which is now Macari Two. Enjoyed those events a great deal. I liked being 12 years younger, too! Cheers All! John Rocky Point NY
Wow - I also still have the 2007 ROE hat, and also have wine glasses from that event. There were a lot more events back then, from frequent F1 race viewing at FCNJ(free breakfast or lunch), to Sunday morning runs, Gotham Dreamcars, Arena Motors and other FCA organized events. Great year for Ferrari too with Kimi winning the F1 world championship with a down to the wire final race. I still have my Rosso Corsa Challenge Stradale. How time flies....
