I would recommend Etch Priming the bare Aluminium, baking it and then applying the Crinkle Red. Finally, bake the parts again. If you have a problem with the wife or girlfriend, either don't tell her or use her Hair Dryer!!!
I did mine sometime back and it was on this forum, but probably lost somewhere. My wife is very understanding! Seriously, keep the Extractor Fan on in the Kitchen and the Oven Door open. Gets rid of any smell and 150 degrees works fine even with an open oven door.

you bake cookies in the same oven? Dude, get yourself an old oven for $25 and put it outside of the house. There are plenty of kitchen remodeling job where they are junking these ovens for nothing...

Yeah, you don't want those fumes or chemicals in the oven you cook food in. Or the dishwasher.

Does a heat gun not work to crinkle the paint?

yes, but it is quite heavy, and you have to hold it for 30 minutes.

Do it in the summer and set it out in direct afternoon sunlight you’ll get the same results. My issue is that the VHT red doesn’t come close to matching the original which is a much darker tone.
