F360 Timing belt service Crank open

    Can anyone advise if the Main 36mm Bolt to open the crank is to be opened clock wise or anti clockwise? Many cars have the reverse thread for these Crank Main Bolts.

    Need to attempt opening it without the crank lock tool.

    Anti clock wise i put a oil filter socket on a breaker bar rested it against the drives side and tapped the ignition lol.

    Many thanks for the quick reply. Brave move on the ignition tap :) Not sure if I am going to try that. Have a friend helping out so thought I may try the Flat screw driver approach and hoping I can preserve the Crank gears. ;)

    The ignition "tap" is an old school trick that works every time.

    Now you are tempting me to do it. Only concern is that existing belts are 9 years old. Just did not want any unexpected force to snap the belt. :)

    Tks guys. Took a few crank hits and eventually came loose. The bad news is that there are no marks for TDC etc and my ESM has the 1 relevant page missing.

    Just trying to go with logic here . Removed the back plates. Getting a small pipe spacer made up to replace the crank pulley and rotate it to line it all up.

    Seems the worst was to remove all the stuff and now is the easy bit of lining it all up and replacement. Tks for the help
