Correct me if I'm wrong Joe but isn't the 288 engine the same as the used in the Lancia LC2 - much closer in fact to the race engine than the engine in the F50 is to the F1 engine?

Think F50 used the 333SP motor? (which was F1 derived ...)

Good point! Both awesome race derived engines in road cars! Those were the days!

    Hi all,

I didn't feel it was appropriate to create a new thread for this, but I was in Chicago this weekend and stopped by a dealership there. They had a black F50 in the service area, up on a lift. A gentleman at the dealership said something about the car being "recently sold", making me think it was 104092, sold at RM Sotheby's Arizona auction in January 2017. Unfortunately I only got one very low quality photograph and no other information on the car, the staff at the dealership was not what I would call "accommodating".

After sharing the photos on Facebook, a gentleman who alludes to having a relationship with the dealership said I don't know anything about the car, and that the car was not originally black.

Can anyone offer any input? I was very excited I had seen 1 of the 4 original Nero F50's and now this guy has kind of ruined my day.

Couldn't tell you, the dealer was pretty tight-lipped. All they did was ask us to leave, and when I remarked at how crazy it was to see a black F50, the sales guy just said "Yeah, you don't see one of those every day."

This is the same f50 that was sold in Scottsdale for a record number, $3.5m, i believe. Original color. Owner has 3 F50.

That's what I thought as well, but now I'm being told the car wasn't originally black. If it is the Scottsdale car, that's awesome.

    $3,135,000 1995 Ferrari F50 | Arizona 2017 | RM Sotheby's described for purposes of clarification as:

"Of the four black F50s produced, there were only two examples that went to the United States. One such example was unfortunately crashed about three years ago, leaving the example presented here, chassis number 104092, the only pristine and unmolested black, US-specification F50 in existence."

Can someone list the differences between a Euro and a US F50, both cosmetic and otherwise? Thank you.
