Particularly when he posts in a thread he has zero right in contributing to....seeing as he has no interest in FEV12OHOS's.
OK, so having imported some 8" QV wheels for it, I came across a set of 17" wheels bolted to a 365. The new owner (not me, I missed that deal) is putting the knock-ons back and selling me the 17s (where are they, Bill?), which I think are a good fit on the 400 body. Brakes, front suspension, radiator, and electrics all done now. Still to do the rear fuel hoses, and while there is a delay (hurry up, Bill), I might get the exhaust done, as the current one sounds like 2 1968 Bedford trucks bogged in a sand dune. Should only be a week or two now. Once I get it back, then the real tinkering begins...
Should be a good thing when I'm finished. If a manual comes along at the right price (missed out on two bargains in the last month), I'll get that instead, but in the meantime, I'll see how I like the big, lazy GT car thing.
Actually Ferraridoc you may well have the last laugh - just consider how many examples of 'perfect low miles' ' flawless PPI' cars have turned out to be lemons. At least you'll KNOW what's what on the car. Nothing matches doing the work yourself.
Well, I'm kind of causing it to be done. I did clean the leather, and fix the electrics (temporarily, before Gezim fixed them again). Oh, and I changed the top hose (before Marc changed all the hoses and the thermostat. But I did fix the door locks (again temporarily - I'm going to have them all refurbished one day). Should be less than two weeks now!
Bite me. They're 17's, vs 16.34 for the TRXs. I know they're not exactly the Speedline pattern, but I think they look good. And they fit without any mods, came with tyres, and the price was right. Oh, and bite me.
Got it home again (thanks Gezim!). Only drove it from my driveway to the portico, but the exhaust sounds better. Of course, now I can hear a small extractor leak somewhere, so a bit more fettling yet. I just had time to adjust the spring tension in the bootlid - 10 minute job, and an hour to sort out some matched screws for the carpet board; I can't stand having odd panel screws. I'll take it for a spin over the weekend and see how tight it is. Oh, and the 17" wheels look spectacular in the flesh. I may have to do something about the 23 year old P-Zeros, though. Maybe sell them to Pap
My bootlid (Im saying this with a wanker accent) was set on the highest spring setting for no reason that could make sense. Unless it had a luggage rack on the lid in the past and they wanted it to open with a full luggage set in place. Now its on the lowest setting.
Alright, trunk! Mine was on the highest setting too. Now the lowest. Sent from my SM-N920I using Tapatalk
Accent? Aren't you a Canadian? What are you talking aboot? Back on topic, I drove it to work today, and it's a lot tighter, but still too much play in the steering, especially on centre. Maybe it's just what recirculating ball steering is like. I'll have to drive another one or two - maybe it's just how they are.
Drop by my place and you can try mine. Gleggy did. He had trouble with the steering wheel on the correct side of the car.
