Looks nice! Since the body lines are "similar" between the 488 and 458 it's now obvious to me that they should look great on the 458. I may need to think about this when I get my 458! Thanks for posting.
They must sit very far out in the rear. Seeing that the 488 rears are 0.5" wider and have an offset of 20 mm less.
Quite right .... that is very important, more important than just looks ... and how about tyres ... ?
As Melvok said, it's not that simple. That 38.5 mm offset in the rear will create a lot more understeer than the stock wheels with 58.5 mm offsets. I'd definitely try to see if either 265/30R20 or 275/30R20 tyres would clear the front fenders if I had installed the 488 wheels to combat the understeer associated with the shallower offsets in the rear. This size of course combined with the OE 295/35R20 rear tyres.
I thought I would share my 488 wheel change on my 458. My original wheels were the std unit with chrome paint option which I like but the style fits the California better. It reminds me of a refined design that looks better on a GT car vs the more aggressive look of the 458. I started out looking at the optional forged wheels that are available on the 458, but they have to much of basic look to them, i.e.; lacking style/design imagination. Thanks to Chris at exoticcarauto who listed this set of factory forged take offs from a 488. They have a much more artistic engineered look to them then the 458 wheels available from the factory(std. or opt.) also they are 1/2 inch wider and slightly lighter on the rear, fronts way exactly the same. The wheels on the a 458 are set in to far in the fender well, apparently some regulation(what else is new) requirement. Anyway the tire sidewall now is flush with the top of each fender front and rear. I used the same tire size, 295 35, on the rear but changed to 245 35 on the front vs. 235 35. The reason for the frt tire change was to get a little more tire on the rim, the 235 looks small on the std wheel and probably would be worse on the 488 wheel being that it is 1/2" wider. the height is almost the same but the section width is about 5/8" wider. To address the concerns of any problems that were mentioned above… there aren't any. In either sport mode or the 3 settings in race mode. I think between the suspension ecu/nannie aides and tire pressure adjustments IF there were any handling problems they were handled electronically or I could have fine tuned tire pressures. As always pictures don't quite do the look justice. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

I'm interested in hearing some owners opinions on the difference between the 458's sound the the 488. I know the 488 is turbocharged which reduces the noise but from some owners, how would you compare the sounds? Is the 488 really more muffled or are they both great, just different? Thanks guys!
If you do a search here on the board, you'll see that the subject of the 458 vs. 488 sound has been beaten to death a million times. Frankly I think we can do without another round of that. In any case, you should start your own thread and not hijack this as it will take if off topic.
