Gotta Love New England! 80 on Saturday, 50 on Sunday. Either way- an intimate gathering. New sunday rule- ONLY RED CARS. And when do you get two GT4 Dinos together? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like a nice gathering. This meet was the same date as Dino's meet in Taunton.... Is it the angle of the picture, or is no one sporting a front license plate? Hope to join you next time. Scott
I need an inspection sticker (for the new plate) and the local shops tend to be a bit hard nosed about the rules... I was reading other threads about front plates, some do, some don't, some do temporary set ups and remove them right after getting the sticker...hopefully, that won't be too painful. I'm thinking like you all - we don't need no stinking badges!
Put one on for the sticker and then take it off. Keep it in the car with some zip ties if you get pulled over.
Suppose I'll revive this since I'm fairly new and noticed some of you boys don't mind some German or Japanese company to any of your gatherings. Rick -NSX -R8
Thank you sir! plus I always have an excuse of saying, "well at least my friend has a Ferrari and he let me tag along"
Back to the discussion of front plates; I used an old NJ plate, bent across at about 1/3 the height, painted satin black and screwed to the bottom of the front valence gave a nice mount for a MA front plate without new screw holes on any visible surface. I used a NJ plate only because it was steel instead of aluminum like most of the others I had. Same custom plate bracket worked on the BMW 840!
I opted for one of the plate holders that screw into the front tow hook receptacle. Quick to install and remove, and requires no ugly modification to the surrounding front end pieces. There are more aesthetically pleasing solutions, but for the hour that it is on the car annually, I think it is the ideal solution.
Hey Paul, It appears I bought your '79 308 GTS (#29471)! Brilliant car and my first Ferrari. I was up in the Boston area until recently and relocated to Dallas. I tried to PM you but since I have a new account it wont let me. You by chance don't know if the timing belts have been replaced do you? No documentation came with the car. It has Gates belts everywhere else but I can't tell if the cam belts have been changed. Appreciate any information! Best, Jarob
Hello Listers, My Ferrari 308 has a front plate but my Triumph TR8 does not. A couple of years ago a State Trooper chased me on RT91 because he saw said TR8 sans plate. I told him it was in the trunk and he offered have a nice day. just sayin..... no front plate be sure all is good with you and you ride. Motor well !!
