I have customer who wants his motorcycle frame painted in Rosso Corsa Fer.322, is this a true red or this new orange/red which I dont consider a "true" Ferrari color? What I need is help in finding a PPG code for "real" Ferrari red, make sense?

    Thank you!

Ferrari has a lot of different codes for red. Rosso Corsa 322 came out somewhere in 1997 or 1998. Ferrari used Rosso Corsa 300. ~1985. Rosso Corsa 300/9 ~1987-88. Rosso Corsa 300/12 ~1995. It depends on what you are looking for. Check out the different models of each year with those colors on them, you will get a better sense of how each red differs. Usually small variations, but enough that it might make a difference to you. They also had a nice red in 1967-68. Rosso Chiaro was used in the mid to late 70's I believe, but I am not 100% sure on that.

Here is a website I use when I am looking for a particular color code for a specific model year. Hope this helps.

I just tried it Marcel. A pop up box was on top of the underlying site. You have to enter year, make, model. It should then list the codes.

300/12 is a blue/red or more of a blood red, compared to the 322 which is more of an orange red. Both are nice red's, just depends on what your eyes like. I might have the PPG paint codes to some of these colors but would have to look for them. PM me if you like.

For Ferrari it only works until 1973. Nothing older.
If you type in 1972 or 1971 the make "Ferrari" doesn't even show up for selection.

I think it used to go further back, but I could be wrong. The only code that I was interested in was the red used in 1967. It has been awhile since I have used the site.

Here is another site that goes back further.

That mean the initials abridged after the codes of color, are in the habit of being variants of the code but they refer to the type of material, sheen??

Can you expound on this implication? I'm not really sure what you mean, nor am I certain whether you're asserting this as fact, or merely asking if that's what's being done. Either way, I'm interested in learning.
