No apologies necessary, I don't need help getting to sleep. I only pray for the safety of the drivers - a monkey would realize that flat floor / ground effects are sending these in the air. When they get some real management, wake me.
they removed him from the car on a backboard and are taking him to the infield care center. I'm pretty sure he had a concussion, he wasn't moving when medical got to him. decent chance he broke a foot/leg too. big impact.
Not to mention pack racing - aka "RUBBIN' IS RACIN'" in NASCRAPland - is a recipe FOR DOOM. And you hit the nail on the head - over management and poor product / design. Heck, it's poor management and over designed product and any mix in between. In my world, we call that a CLUSTER ****. You reap what you sow, couldn't have happened to a nicer fellow, that Tony George.
Good to hear he is safe. All the banter and ranting aside, while these guys know the risk, it seems like other forces are playing a role here.
good news: Hinch is awake (now, not sure he was the whole time) bad news: skipping infield medical and headed straight to Methodist.
Behind him and Herm Johnson's pit. Lot of fires that year. The worst year was 73. I just hope and pray that this year is not like those years.
+1 here's a pic of Hinch post crash, before the car rolled on its side (it came to rest on its wheels) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry to hear, and you can speak about safety a hell of a lot more than most of us here. I'm with you about this one having some bad mojo...
When you get hurt....you don't forget. That is why I posted what Bobby Unser stated. They can fix this......and it needs to be done......NOW!
not sure how long this will stay up before IndyCar has it removed, but here you go: [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlbdpXb3FSg[/ame]
Yea...but the driver ain't all there at the moment. He had to feel that one. I just about bet he is shook.
And Eddie Cheever mentioned how important, mentally, it is for a driver to get back into the car asap, same day if possible, so the crash does not mentally weigh upon a driver.
My guess (and i hope i am wrong)....concussion. Has anyone noticed how these cars step out without warning?
