    James back in harness on the clam and he has completed the bonding of the inner ducts and prepped and primed it. Next step will be the fitting of the light lenses and then to sand ensuring there's no pin holes or minor ripples. Then a final re-prime ready for colour but we need the car back for a final fit first

    All looks a little like Groundhog Day, until you go to pick it up.

    Are you going to use the original front clam on the car or the new one?

    New one most of the time, lighter by some margin.

    Am I missing something or when Ferrari launched their Millechilli concept back in what 2009, the aim was a1000kg car with I think 600HP and here in the F40, especially with the option pack, they pretty much achieved it back in 1989 or in this case rather bettered it?

    I'm with you Tim, i was disappointed by the final weight of the LaF, weight is the enemy after all (I wonder what the Laf would weigh without all the hybrid tech).

    What kind of weight savings do you think you will have made once its all done?

    Not that much as there is not that much to take off this already being a race car, but as distinct from a stock road F40, I would say around 75kg+ so we should be just over the Mille KG. 75KG does not sound that much but it is the equivalent of a permanent passenger.

    75kg is a fair bit on a 1100kg car ;) Impressive.

    Those wheels and tyres look incredible!
    I love it when a plan comes together.
    This must be the most documented and upgraded F40 LM/GTE in the world.
    So very exciting at every stage.
    Love this car can't bear to look at a 'stock' F40 anymore..lol!

    Thanks for that and I too cannot wait to see her in an almost finished state as I really have never even seen all the bodywork on, which one way or another means the 13th, so just four weeks to get things sorted which is going to be tight.

    New Perspex lenses being trimmed and fitted to the new clam which in turn has been sanded ready for the final coating of primer.

    Well that was a struggle. F40 shields seem to be somewhat elusive, only left hand ones at the Factory, no pairs, but thanks to Lee and this Forum, (conveniently in Australia!), we now have a set and thus will be suitably attired for the Ball.

    I have spent the past few days reading through all the commentary on this build, and I can say this is nothing short of breathtaking. What an awesome project! I cannot wait to see everything all buttoned up.

    Guys, if you are F40 owners then you should know. The right hand side of the car, the horse faces towards the rear, while on the left side it faces to the front of the car.

    Wish I was! The answer is the difference is minimal and not immediately apparent but there must be one as each badge has a different part number and one is marked S (Sinistra-left) and the other D (destra-right). I think it is only a subtle difference in the flow and curve of the clam whereas on the 288 it is far more radical. Or it is a typical Ferrari game?

    I may be wrong but I don't think that current day Ferraris shields are different left-right.

    Correct, the current day shields share the same part number for both sides, Ie. 65921900 65921900 Scuderia Shield, Tim how about you try the shields you have and put them on the opposite way and see first hand what the difference is?
