Just wondering which aftermarket exhausts TR owners prefer. Capristo, Tubi ? Would love some first hand experience on the topic from TR owners and former owners - not what some have heard about their friend's friend cousin's neighbor. I have been referred ANSA. Does anyone have experience with that brand or know anything about them? I'm interested in ease of fitment, cost, if cat replacement needed/recommended and sound. I am interested in a loud-ish but genuine Ferrari sound. An example would be Carpets Sound 3. Look forward to your replies! CheerZ Vincent
I have Tubi on my TR and really like the sound vs stock. Lower and more rumbly. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk
Hi Vincent; I agree fully to what Joe says; I also have a Tuby and that is decent but loud(er) ... and my neighbours are still my friends. For LOUD go for FUCHS or Capristo, no others to recommend ... What do you want ... ? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBvcZBRvrd8[/ame]
Hi Mel, I had my eye on a Capristo; Cat Delete Pipes and Sound 3 Level Exhaust with no valves to adjust volume and flow. It is about $5k via eBay + fitment costs. Not cheap. However, speaking to a Ferrari mechanic/specialist he referred me to ANSA who I am told made dealer available aftermarket items especially for Ferrari, though I'm not 100% sure if this is correct. All the same, my criteria are in this order: 1. Quality - both of items and direct fitment 2. Price 3. Sound - just needs to sound like the one posted on your Youtube link! Hope that helps explain what I'm after info-wise. Any insight into ANSA's cost and quality also appreciated. Thanks Mel! Vincent
Aside from the muffler, I will also need cat delete pipes (test pipes?) right? Nothing else? I also assume most replacment kits come with all the hardware, etc? Sorry - should have asked these in my original post. Lastly - cost of the exhaust system you have, be it Tubi, X-ost, Capristo, ANSA....? I am wondering if $5000 is about right. CheerZ! Vince
I have a Nouvalari, I really really like it. Exhaust + cats delete would be half-ish of what you're mentioning (at least back when I bought all my stuff). I can send you a link to a video of my car via pm if you want or search in the forum, you should find it.
Hyperflow sells a nice set of cat delete pipes for both the precats and main ones. I think $5K should buy the whole setup, muffler, precat pipes and main cat pipes.
Do not buy the old Borla setup which not only eliminates the cats (you cannot use cats with this at all - it is NOT like test pipes) - but also effectively messes up the upstream sensors (they only work on 3 cylinders per side) and also eliminates the pre-cats. IMHO, it also did not sound very good and had a weird resonance in the mid-RPM range on the one I drove.
I tried a Tubi on my 86 Testarossa and had problems with it droning around 3,000 RPMs. I swapped it out within a few weeks for a Capristo. I have had the Capristo for about 5 years and like it a lot. I still have all four cats installed but not sure if they still have guts or not. My Capristo is the street use stage and is the quietest of the three stages. The tone is a low bass like tone at low RPM but above 4,000 RPM it quickly changes to the traditional angry Ferrari 12 cylinder tone that we all know and love. I park in a high rise building and when I idle down through the floors I set off hundreds of neighbor car alarms. Little old ladies shake their fingers at me and young kids give me thumbs up. Ha ha. The stock exhaust is heavy and ugly. Almost anything would be an improvement. The stainless Steel Capristo is highly visible through the rear grill. It is very noticeable as compared the dark colored stock exhaust and muffler. Look good, sound good. Plus, I pass emission testing now. Not sure about HP improvements but driving pleasure is more than 10% improved.
chabch, would love to see and hear the video with the nuovalari. I have heard others on video and think they saound amazing....GREAT price and have heard the welding is excellent.
here are two videos of my car. One from the outside, someone I didn't know filmed me leaving a studio and posted it on youtube (people on the sidewalk were asking me to accelerate when leaving, which i did once it was up to the right temp, but it cuts right there...), and the other one from the inside on a weekend ride with friends (yes I have a bunch of GoPros...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6paRekfxsiQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXLPKN7Byf0&noredirect=1
I have the Larini system on mine no cats. The sound is aggressive and loud, but not droning or annoying. I believe it would be cheaper than the $5000 others are quoting, but you'll have to get a quote. It is significantly smaller and lighter than stock.
I had the Fuchs on my TR and still feel that it was the closest to an older V12 sound...the quality and workmanship was fantastic...
Thanks chabch, love the sound and price of the Nuovalari. Tough decision as I love the Fuchs and Capristo sounds. Tough because there is nothing wrong with my stock system, just not mean sounding enough. Too quiet and understated....which is nice also.
Regardless which exhaust you end up putting on your TR, it will change your driving experience beyond what you can imagine... Seriously! After putting the new exhaust on it, within minutes of driving it, i thought "why didn't I do this a long time ago!?!". The engine is more responsive, it sings like a 12 cylinder Ferrari should, and it sounds even faster!
So can I get some advice on where you bought your systems and what they cost (if not already mentioned)? And again - since emissions is not a problem, what will I need? Cat delete pipes, exhaust...anything else? Thanks! Vincent
As Chabch said, the car will sound incredable!!! I had mine for one week and hated the stock sound...way too quiet. After I did mine I get a grin from ear to ear everytime I drive it...a true twelve cylinder synphony
