i drive my 400ai's everywhere. nice at 80-90 miles per hr. nice for 100 to 200 mile trips. my bottom gets sore after 2-3 hours. i do drive my cars to work but i find that i put myself in physical danger. bad inner city area, i stopped after three sets of very young blacks came into my office. i have the Russian mob four doors away. they use ice cream trucks to sell drugs. city police protect them. life has its challenging
Although you went off topic,I found your statement "my bottom get's sore after 100-200 mile trips" odd. Though not knowing your frame size,I'm 6'4",my 365 is amazingly comfortable after a 7 hour or more drive(fast). This topic could be moved if there is discussion on it.
replying to post 98 when talking about, what to drive daily. i am now all wound up about restoring my 365 gt4 2+2(1976). i have owned it for about 10 years and have never driven the car because two cly. on right bank have 90lbs. motor and transmission r out. as soon as i pay for my 550 service next week i will start saving up for the restore.
Thank you Simon and dstacy for your input. There is a nice 1983 412 for sale here is Los Angeles that I'm going to look at tomorrow. 20k miles, automatic, black with tan.. They are asking $54k!!! High price you guys think?
Hi dstacy, Also found a 1979 400i with carbs for $29k on the east coast. 40k miles, the dealer says its clean and just had a service. One owner.. Thanks for your help..
I have in Australia a 400gt rhd carb plated 1977 built 1976 sold to and owned by the Hong Kong ferrari dealer for many years untie I purchased the car form an importer in Australia Where does this fit in with the few that are known to exist Jeff

Hello Jeff your a lucky man as were only at 10 worldwide RHD 400GT (carbed manual gearbox) yours must make it 11. Do you have the chassis number and registration plate so we can add to the list. Regards Alastair
Alastair I'm sad to read that you consider there are only 11 cars alive. First, the survey has been done on F-Chat only, Second, the thread has been opened a few months ago. I m pretty sure that all the cars are alive (able to run or not) and if not, 90% of them yes. Many cars are still hidden in private collections or in barns. Jeff's car is included in the 10 cars we have at the moment registered. I let him giving its VIN (that I have). Regards
Dear Paul Don't be sad I don't consider that there are only 11 cars alive. I have always quoted that 'so far' I think I started at 5 or 6. Worldwide This is not a final document and probably will never be conclusive but I thought it certainly would be usefull info. The info has been gathered through F Chat though details for instance from Australia have come from other reliable sources certainly not exclusively Fchat. Perhaps I have not made it clear this info is not conclusive so whether it was started last year or 1 week ago it had to start sometime I don't see the relevance of the statement. To suggest that all 400GT RHD are 'still alive' apologies for this but are shall we say slightly optimistic! considering there are only 3 as far as we know in the UK out of the 21 UK RHD imports so that's 18 other cars that you believe are here. Do you have any details of the other 18? How can you be pretty sure there all alive? 18 is a lot of Barns and private collectors! Thanks for that on Jeffs car I will update the info on the list so far in the meantime Bon Soiree. Regards Alastair
Hello Alastair I don't suggest they are all alive but most of them, yes. Remember the White 365 GT4 2+2 we talked about a few months ago. Nobody has seen it since many years. But it's alive and hidden in a collection. Confirmed by Jtremlett. Remember the two cars (400GT and 400i) bought by Tassie. Hidden in a barn for many years. I discover new cars every day, thanks to the Club 400 communication. And every day, new cars appear on the net. I'm not saying that all 400GT are alive and able to run, just saying that most of them are probably still complete. Like this RHD 365 GT4 which will be auctioned. We have to wait, they will re-appear. UK, Australia, Hong Honk, South Africa, who knows ? We can find many pictures of RIP cars, but in reality, they aren't many compared to the 2900 cars production.
They are not as pretty or as inexpensive as my 1986 Mondial. But I like odd ball cars. [My Summer car for the last three decades has been a daily driver 1965 Corvair Monza Convertible.] Plus the 412s are, of course, 12 cylindars in front. Not that it is necessarily a Good Thing. If I can find a Rosso Prugna 412 I may be the only person on the planet with two purple Ferraris.
Not as pretty ? I think that's a very debatable point (especially on a forum devoted specifically to 400 series car owners !) Nothing wrong with liking oddball cars - it just shows that you're individual and not a sheep. But Purple ? Really ? Two of them ? Honestly ?
