A little off topic, but check out the Chrysler Turbo Minivan on YouTube - does 12 second quarter mile times...a TRUE sleeper and oh so cool!!
I got to the Euro show but brought other cars. The RS got out to Cars and Coffee and a couple joy rides this summer. I'm not that big on car shows, I'd much rather drive than look at static displays. With the weather lately I've got the odd drive in....a nice unexpected change this winter.
i'd like to see it sometime ha, funny, my ex had one too, until a large ford sedan killed it (unfortunately she wasn't in it at the time ) ....odd cars, different wheelbase one side from the other side LOL
I have wanted an R5 for what... 30+yr's now. Forge those internals and slap on a GT35R or even a GT40 turbo and get ta spankin!!
fixed for ya LOL ...the poor little 1.4L with the T3 garret reportedly already has considerable on/off (mentioned above) ....still, they did upgrade the T3 spec (probably to a .63 a/r and larger then 50 trim) to get 300+hp = sweet! ....the 'disco-potato' might work okay on the 1.4L though....maybe? Why the hell does everyone feel the need to 'FIX' a post!!! Comment on the original post, very simple!!!!!!!!!! I won't even get into another turbo knowledge debate.
My friend owned the car featured in that short Autoweek article. I think it's on the West Coast now. He still has some pics on his personal web site. I drove it once and it was completely hysterical. Turbo boost like nothing I've ever experienced plus a tallish 1st gear = wait...wait...wait...WHEEEEEE. We were buzzing around NoVa with him in my old Esprit S4s and me struggling to keep up in the Renault. I couldn't stop laughing.
The disco potato is not really good for much more than the stock HP level, I'd say maybe the 2871R-12 or the 2876? With the small displacement and antiquated engine/cylinder head design, nothing is going to spool up well on that thing...
Lag? bolt a super on it who's whole existence is to spool it I LOVE the R5, not as much as the Clio V6 though, but I have experience with the Clio Spotted an R5 in LA not too long ago.
The R5 turbo is right there with the Metro 6R4. Extremely cool and attractive without actually looking good
Here are some pics of mine. Great car to drive out here in the Santa Cruz mountains. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the 90's there was a silver one for sale floating around in Orange County with some insane set up for like 900bhp. I think bongo remembers that car, but he doesn't post here much. This is the one I saw in LA Image Unavailable, Please Login
nice car Pat ...i'm curious, what kind of response you get from people about the car? guys vs. girls, car guys vs. non-car guys?
These cars are awesome. When I lived in France in the mid 80's, they were new. I saw them all the time and loved them.
Thank you. Lot's of nice comments from all people. Here is a pretty cool video. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XJ9I2x_o24[/ame]
