We all had to start somewhere? So where (Or in what) did you start out in? For my first car (Im only 16) I was gifted a 88' white on white trans-am. Gorgeous car, and i love it to death. Far from a Ferrari, but there always room to grow. I will post pictures shortly. So guy's and gal's. Post em' up!
Looking back, mines almost laughable. I grew up in the 80's in California so the VW Bug ruled. We lowered them painted them bright colors and cruzed Mooney blvd in Visalia.. My dad at the time wouldn't ride in my car and called it a circus. Unfortunately a kid in Visalia offered to buy it from my dad (while I was off in Africa) The kid took the car and never paid, so it was gone... Image Unavailable, Please Login
My first car was a 1994 Pontiac Trans Am GT that I got in 2000 with about 74,000 miles on it. 275 hp and 325 tq were wonderful at 17 years old. I drove it through my senior year of high school (I had the fastest car in school, which seemed important at the time) and 5 years of college. Still have it but replaced it for every day use years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alfa Romeo 33 (the boxy 80's version). It had a 1.7 liter 4 cylinder boxer engine with carbs. Made a fantastic sound, only had 117hp but it weighed less then a 1000kg. Was a very fun car to drive. One day at a red light drag race I missed 5th gear and ended up in 3rd, crankshaft broke in 2. I found another engine and fitted it on my parents driveway. The garden in front of the house was full of car parts, I can still remember my mothers face when she came home from work
1 was 16 and wanting a car all to my own. My father decided I needed a car that was interesting so he bought me a 1994 Mondial coupe... just kidding.. ;-) 1977 Porsche 924. It was a black 4 speed stick, 0 to 60 in 10 minutes. Handled really nice though. With the large sunroof.. somedays I miss cruising around in her.
You guys are gonna laugh... It was actually a very nice truck in person though, and graced the cover of several magazines. I bought it from the builder who was desperate for money. I was 16 and working as a bagger at Albertson's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My first car was my grandfather's '48 Plymouth when he went blind from diabetes (retinopathy). Unfortunately, there are no pictures. I was a junior in HS. That was 1960.
1967 Plymouth Valiant Signet sedan. It pretty much looked exactly like this picture. 273 V8/auto/ac etc. Got it from my granddad, and sold it in college. I think I want to get a 360 powered 67 coupe as a tribute. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
'79 924. Guards Red, 5speed, 931 suspension, 931 brakes, partially stripped, straight through exhaust.... ..Man I miss that car! Pretty gutless, but just so fun!
1984 Nissan Xtra Cab Pickup. Hand me down from my dad, had plastic (not vinyl, PLASTIC) seats and no carpets. Just rubber mats. He had A/C installed a couple of years before I got it. Learned to drive a stick in it, in St. Louis suburban traffic. Did you know you can fit 16 people in the back of one of those without any problems?
1959 International 4x4 pick-up. Straight 6 cylinder engine, stick shift. I bought it with my own money for $300 in the 1970's. Drove it on dirt roads out in the Mojave Desert two years before I was old enough to get my driver's license. Looked very similar to this pic. Wish I still owned it. Wife is glad I don't. My first car.. 94 Honda Del Sol Si I had a blast with that car. Sadly it got stolen the day I finished ordering the last of the parts i needed for the turbo setup I was putting together. I have thought about getting another one someday to finish what I started. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My first car: Pepper White/Black 2009 MINI Cooper S. I got it on July 14th, 2010. Still enjoying it today just as much as I did when I picked her up. I'm currently the second owner of the car (there won't be a third under my watch). It had 8600 miles on it when I picked it up; currently has over 25000. It's name is Oreo. First car I drove was Mom's 1970 NoVa. 6 cylinder, powerglide. Man what a gutless wonder. First car I bought was a 1966 Candyapple Red Mustang coupe. 289 3 speed car. That was back in 1977. I still own the car, my 16 year old son and I are going through and upgrading the brakes to front discs. When we finish I'll teach him how to drive a stick shift.
My first car was a 1991 Grey Dodge Spirit... Turbo.. haha I called it "The Grey Ghost".. I had it about 10 months, drove it about 10,000 miles or so until the transmission completely stopped working. My 2nd car is a 2004 Chevy Cavalier LS.. Huge upgrade from the Spirit..
First car I bought on my own was a 1995 BMW M3. I drove my parents Eagle Vision TSI, Jeep Cherokee Laredo, VW Passat, and VW Cabrio when before. None were ever officially my car.
First hand-me-down car was an '89 Accord around 1999. The first car I ever paid for myself was a '76 Fiat X1/9 about a year later. Would love to have another X and am perpetually on the search for a good '74.
The first car I bought with my own money was this - a 1959 Lancia Appia Series II Sedan, purchased in 1972, for $50, with a spare engine. Took me quite a while to make a runner out of it, but I used it for daily transportation for many years. The same car is owned today by Butch and Nancy Dennison, of Dennison International (ex-Pete Lovely Racing), and they use it regularly. It has never been wrecked or rusted. I believe this picture was taken the day I pushed it home. It was semi-abandoned at a house just down the street, the father had split and owed child support, the wife basically gave it to me.
