All, First wanted to thank everyone for their contributions, it is what keeps us all going! One of the plus points of my job is that it allows me to learn and use some cool technology. As a learning project, I used a 3D scanner to scan my one good sunvisor clip, then tweaked the scan to export to SolidWorks, from which a STL file was made then...............................sent that file off to our new 3D printer. And yes out came a working sunvisor clip! The material is ABS plus plastic,in white. Amazing. Of course it installs and works great. Color is slightly off but could be sprayed. Question is how many of you are in need of these clips? Also, will eventually be able to do other small parts as needed! Off to work now, will post some pics on the weekend. Godspeed! Dave
are these to stop the sunvisor from drooping because the crappy ferrari clips break? If yes does anyone know who many models of ferrari this works for? This could be a good thing for 456/550 guys lots of them have droopy visors
Well, pics are not that great, but will give you an idea. One on the left is the repro part, right is original. As printed, the plastic is somewhat translucient, but will sand and paint well. I just screwed mine on as is, look fine in the car. After uploading, I see how poor the photos are, sorry. Dave Have you set a price? What material are they made of? Can they be done in black vs painting them which will likely wear off where the visor is held. Ken
Sorry it has been a few days, busy at work. Yes they can be produced in black. Some time around mid-March I will have the time to finalize pricing and availability. My goal here is simply cover costs. Hard part is done, scanning, modeling etc. So................allow this to be an informal list. Will be back with info soon.
Dave, I too could use a pair of the cream colored ones and, depending on cost, a second pair as well. I have been dealing with a broken one for 2 years now. How can we get in touch? Thank you, Rick
I would take a pair as a backup. These are the type of things that will be worthwhile having planned ahead! Thanks, John
All, Sorry for the delay. Seems I will have some time this week to get on this again. Hopefully will have some info this week on pricing and lead times. Godspeed! Dave
Sorry guys, put this off just when I thought I was on it again. Real job always seems to suck away the time! Tuesday I should have the contact who will actually "print" the parts. If all goes well, will get back with prices and lead times. Godspeed! Dave
