Sport mode on the Manettino on an HGTE is the same ride quality as Race mode on the base 599.
I can't compare to non-HGTE car but my experience on my 2010 HGTE has been great! No harsh ride. My Porsche GT3 is harsher for sure and I still think is ok...lol
My 599 HGTE is a fantastic ride, if I have any criticism at all it is that the wide tyres can be pulled about in the road if there are grooves/uneven parallel indentations in it.
