348 Seat Tilt Levers

My seat tilt levers for my 1995 Spider were weak and broken. Looked fine but when you went to tilt seat, they flexed and basically bent in half. The plastic coating hid the broken internal structure that allowed one to rotate the shaft with the lever. I solved the problem by having set of replacements machined from aluminum. Anodized Black. Pulled dimensions off of old levers and had matching pairs made. Really close in look, fit well and work great. Maybe a touch bit beefier?? I will post in a For Sale thread. But I wanted to get on here in this group, as the levers are hard to find and a pretty common issue on 348's and maybe Mondials? At least from my search it was. Here are pics. $150 a set. I sold car and have 3 sets ready to go.

I paid for design, set up and manufacture. I did a limited run to cover my cost. Will be a small profit if I sell what I have and recoup my own set. Future sales could be more profitable if I get more orders.

I priced the*pair below replacement cost I was seeing for one OEM lever. Should work on 355 as well if it has this design. Most are knobs, but spiders are probably like this. 348's and Mondials use this lever based on my research, but I am no expert. Knew the right people with experience in these types of components.

 

Two sets sent out. I have one or two left and will have to reorder. Not sure on production time. First run was 2 months from design to manufacture. Since it is just a production run, I would hope 2-3 weeks.

I have 3 or 4 sets in route. They should have been here a week ago, but alas life got in the way for the manufacturer. You have been dealing with sick wife myself. All is on the mend. As soon as I have in my hand, he will post pics and take orders for immediate shipping.

UPDATE 10-11-17:

I contacted the manufacturer. He has not shipped to me. Sitting on his desk while he is attending to a sick father. Says he will be back next Wednesday and ship to me.

Truly sorry for the delays. I have paid for all development and product up front. I have had a relationship with my supplier for 25 years. Unfortunately due to my wife's illness in Sept and now his fathers, we have not connected regularly and the levers have languished in different stages.

They are anodized and the cost for that was changed and I did not approve soon enough and that got cycled to back of pack. When I did do it, he completed order, contacted me for payment and then left in a hurry.

I wish I had more control of product manufacture and shipping, but I am at the mercy of someone else. Because of the cost and the low volume of product, I have ordered in such small batches, which is not desirable to the manufacturer, but he does it for me because of our history.

Again, sorry for delays. They are coming and I should have 5 sets with I think all of them spoken for.

Will get shipping cost to Sydney, hopefully tomorrow and will get payment and shipping to everyone ASAP - hopefully next weekend 10/20-10/22.
