I'm not happy with usaa on the ferrari, and they flat out refused to tell me an approximate pay out with normal coverage. I was waiting to see what they valued this crash at.

I did a quote with american collectors really not impressed and I know no one that uses them so not sure if the numbers suck just because Im in michigan.

Ill have to try condon shelley and see what they say.

I did an on line quote with them tonight and they seemed about the same as all the others I looked at, except Hagerty with was way higher. Live in CT. $80k is about what I would have expected based on the current market. Been a couple of Bs listed here for less that haven't sold, AFAIK. This one, for example. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/546147-1995-f355-berlinetta-red-tan-19-385-miles.html

This was my issue with Geico. Too up in the air. I'm happy with my agreed value policy. It's not expensive.

John - I love that car and think it's priced well.

Me too, but no one stepping up to buy it. It's listed on cars.com too.

It's been listed 6 weeks in winter. It took you 3 years to buy a 355 - give this one some time ;) :) ;)

I never asked USAA how much to add the 355 to my regular policy and coverage. I'll have to do that. If they paid 84k on that car then their numbers are good IMO. I pay a bit ovef $800 for 75k with CS now.

I have had USAA for my whole insured life. Only about 3-4 claims over 30 years. Never an issue. They referred me to American Collector for my collector cars (ACV) and progressive for my boats. I have never had a claim with either but I find the rates pretty reasonable. Maybe its being in rural SC that helps.

Far from an insurance expert, but I think you go with an agreed value policy you may have use restrictions on the vehicle. I do. They aren't terrible.

Same here re USAA - two claims in 32 years. I have 4 cars with their Amer Coll affiliate and find the price to be very reasonable. I have agreed value on all four.

$16K for a car that is beyond totaled :) Maybe the only salvageable item is the motor.

PS - anyone that buys this car - it might have early CAM covers and I'd buy them from you ;)

Have you seen more photos than those listed on the auction site?

These cars dismantle for far more than $16k these days even when bent in two!

$20k plus is my guess at to what it sells for

Ooops always pays to re read page 1!

Ouch! a nice tree shaped indent in that front end, looks like it hit it at an angle to the ground as well.

So, for sure the current chassis is scrap but a hell of a lot still can be salvaged from the carcass, especially as the older the 355 gets and its desirability and hence value increases and Ferrari are not making many spares for these cars anymore.

Price up just those headlight buckets and their contents alone, or a pair of door mirrors, eye watering to replace even when used.

My friends 355 had a light front end accident, £16k in components alone from Ferrari to make it good, but the insurance company still insisted it be repaired.

That would make a perfect donor for two 355 bare chassis's I currently have stashed away in some shipping containers :)

The guys bidding are pros. $16k is a pre-bid. Auction is the 17th.

Also, it will be interesting to see what the ACV of the 96 in HI is as it is also USAA insured.

So, FerrParts grabbed this car. Given it's an early car I figured it would have early cam covers that I need so I sent Russ and email last night. He told me they already sold the motor and they don't even have the car yet :(
