The new Team US F1 is being backed by YouTube co-founder and boss Chad Hurley for its 2010 championship campaign. "I am thrilled to be a part of America's first Formula 1 team in more than 40 years," Hurley said. "Getting in on the ground floor of a project of this size and scope is a tremendous opportunity, and I look forward to helping shape the US F1 vision and corporate strategy for years to come." Hurley was one of the original founders of the video-sharing website YouTube, and has helped take it from its original concept to the huge global brand it is today. The business was sold to Google for $1.65 billion (£1 billion) in 2006, although Hurley stayed on board to guide it. US F1 says that as well as his financial input, Hurley will bring his outside experience to the team to help with its corporate strategy and media planning. US F1 sporting director Peter Windsor (pictured) said, "This is a great day for US F1. Chad's commitment to this team is vital and his visionary expertise and leadership will help steer us into the future as we look to attract best-in-class sponsors, drivers, employees and fans in our quest to compete at the highest level of motorsports." US F1 is one of three new teams entering F1 next year. Manor and Campos are the two other teams; they have yet to announce their investors.
This year. Next year Brawn is a backmarker again. Heck, by the end of the year they'll be out of the points on a regular basis. I wonder if his involvement will keep FOM from pulling every F1 clip from Youtube like they do now.
Brawn has a great core group and experience. If the testing rules dont alter much they have a good a chance as anyone.
Both! FOM have taken a lot of fan F1 sites down over the years. Pre You Tube FOM would go after anyone that posted F1 vids.
Yeah i hate that, there used to be loads of F1 races from years and years ago, and ones from a couple of years ago. I enjoyed watching them, and now there is no where . Torrents take absolutely ages, thats if they ever even start properly, i've searched so much to find races but they're no where.
I agree. Many hours have been wasted trying to look for F1 races of the past seasons. I really wish that FOM would make season disc's. Right now on blu-ray they can probably get a whole season with all important stuff that happend in practise, full qualifying and a full race on a single disc. Sell them for $50 a pop and Bernie will have his money back in no time. Why am I saying this on the internets? I should be telling bernie!
I don't know Hurley's full background, but how does developing a video hosting site translate into F1 Team strategy know-how?
