Need to know what you have at say 3000rpm fully warm and at idle fully warm..on the Ferrari gauge. Thanks. Phil
The Veglia needle shows 12 O'Clock high, dead in the middle of the gauge, for oil pressure when warm at 3k rpm (using Red Line's synthetic 5w30). Oil temperature runs at 11 O'Clock when fully hot, sometimes ticking up as high as 12 O'Clock if I have to idle in traffic on very hot days for long periods of time.
yup me too . on hot days of hot driving , my oil pres gets a little down- 11o clock , and temp gets almost 1 oclock.
Does your oil pressure change when you are shifting? ie. does it go down when you engage the clucth, but go back up when you're done shifting?
I haven't noticed it doing that. My oil pressure follows my RPMs pretty reliably up and down, lagging behind the RPM change by only the tiniest bit of time. It certainly doesn't go down when I engage my clutch at idle.
Oil Pressure will change with three things....RPM's,heat, and oil grade... Oil 101....As oil heats up it thins out thus the hotter the oil temp the lower the oil pressure. Hotter Oil Temps = Thinner Oil Consistancy = Lower oil pressure Cold Oil Temps = Thicker Oil Consistancy = Higher oil pressure The higher the RPM's the higher your oil pressure.... at idle when warm my oil pressure is around 35 when the engine is cold my oil pressure is around 65-75 when warm at 3000-4000 rpm my oil pressure is slightly above 70 I run Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic although in the south it gets hot and I am thinking about switching to 10w-40... do a search..there are a couple of threads on oil pressures at different temps and RPMs also, read the Motor Oil 101 threads...they are very informative...
