From your local Western Sierra Slope FChatter, just tossing this one out if anybody wants to take a run up to the park as admission is free this weekend!

Yosemite Valley, CA-- In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this Monday, Yosemite National Park will offer free admission into the park starting this weekend.

The fee waiver is for all visitors Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Fees being waived for the holiday weekend include the fees associated with entrance into the park only. All other fees associated with camping, lodging, or activities within the park are not waived, and the fee waiver only applies to this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend.

According to Gediman, this is a very rare January where, as of now, Tioga Pass (Hwy 120) and Glacier Point Road are both open. Typically, both of these roads are closed at this time of the year due to snow and ice.

Gediman said that Tenaya Lake is iced over with about six inches of ice and people are able to walk on the surface of the lake. He urges caution.

If you would like to drive all the way across Tioga Pass, Gediman reminds you to have plenty of food and gas, as there are no services open along Highway 120, at this time of the year.

Possibly one of the best drives anyone could ever make, there is absolutely no snow and it's winter , so little traffic. Roads are clear and the sky is blue.

I could see Tioga pass all the way to lee Vining heading north to Tahoe and back down 50
