Was quoted over $6700 for four (4) new painted calipers for the 360. (A lot of money and they will eventually chip again) The dealer said by the time they clean the old ones, apply the paint and decal it's about the same price. I think what is at issue here is that the car ties up a bay while all this is happening...assuming they farm out the painting. BTW...I learned from a high end F-Car body shop that the decal is NOT sold and must be custom made. Does anyone know of a place near Philly that can paint the calipers and apply a decal?? Thanking you all in advance for your expert help!!
Jesus man, order a full brembo kit....ferrari dealer should be ashamed. We do it here for all 4 including pulling and painting and reinstall about $750. Sorry don't have a good reco for philly
Not sure...I told the guy I wanted a repaint only but if Ferrari only sells it as a kit then... I guess the good news is I get the old ones to sell!!!
Josh at ECS here in Virginia can get them done for you for about a grand, I think. He's an fchat member. I think the web site is .ecsofvirginia. Nice guy. I had a TDF 360 spider with silver calipers I was going to repaint yellow. Traded the car instead, but Josh's quote was like $300 a wheel or something, said it would look factory perfect with the ferrari lettering and everything.
Call Mike F. at Delphais Collision in Exton, PA. 610-431-1660 Or Call Mike P. at Karosserie in King of Prussia, PA 610-279-8925 Both are members here, both own Ferraris. Both shops are EXCELLENT, run by very good guys.
$600 from super high end place here in Seattle. Can't even tell they were painted. I would not go through a Ferrari dealer to do it.
CM- Cost $428 to have these two front calipers painted. Any good paint shop will be more than happy to paint your calipers for you for way less than $1000 for all four. You can buy the brake decals on the internet for virtually nothing. I have 40 or 50 in a baggie to make sure I got the correct size. If you can remove your old calipers and clean them off, it is easy to get them done for a reasonable cost. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had these done for around $1500. The shops suggested above will do right by you. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Perfect thread!!! (so far) This is a great example of fchat people working together, and why I love Fchat!!
There was an article in the porsche club magazine (Panorama) a few months ago where a guy was doing this himself (or at least showing what needs to be done if you paid someone to do it and were curious). As far as painting, the caliper on a porsche should be exactly the same as the ferrari....and there's no way it was $6,700 to paint them on a porsche! Good luck- the car will probably look awesome especially if you have gotten used to seeing scratched/chipped calipers!
Very nice Taz! Here is my BigBrake Kit from StopTech. It cost me $300.00 from calipers and rotors with powder coating. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you all for your help. Have not decided which way to go yet but something will get done. To clarify...that was the price quoted for for (4) new calipers (not repainted) installed. Thanks again. Tom
As I said at the beginning of the thread... The Ferrari dealer said "by the time we take them off, clean them, repaint and apply the decal it's about the same price as new ones" (Didn't really care for that answer) So...naturally I RAN to my brethren here on F-Chat since I was not aware of their price or how much to repaint. They have lost some paint (7 years old) and the last time the brake fluid was done a Ferrari dealer in Ca. left one of the caps loose and the hot brake fluid took some paint off. Hence repainting is necessary. I just have to find a place I can trust. May visit some of the aforementioned places before committing. Thank you all very much!!!
David- Those brakes look really nice. They go well with the larger wheels. CM- Obviously, the service manager to whom you spoke is full of crap. The most I have ever paid for 4 decals is $20 and I probably have enough here to send you a set for free if you know what size you need. If you or an independent can remove the calipers, the paint shop can degrease them and paint them any color you want. Here is a list of PPG paint codes. Unless you track the car, you do not need any special high temperature paint, just two part auto paint and a clear coat over the decals once installed. The only color decals Ferrari used were black and white for non-CCM brakes. Black on red, yellow, and silver, and white on black calipers. White also looks good on red calipers., as you can see on David's calipers. I have mostly black decals. For CCM brakes, there were smaller decals stating CCM and Brembo. Red on yellow calipers and yellow on the rest, IIRC. Here are the PPG paint codes: Yellow: PPG 84028 Giallo Modena Red: PPG 75250 Rosso Corsa Aluminum: PPG 36520 Argento Metallic/Nurburgring Black: PPG 95150 Nero Rosso Scuderia: PPG 905389 Rosso Scuderia Taz Terry Phillips
