Anyone know how many yellow F40's were made by the factory?
The F40 does look good in yellow. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
WRONG, a few were factory built for the sultan of Brunei in other colours, also they were RHD. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
can you prove that? it is my understanding these cars were converted after they left the factory. i have never seen any documentation to support your claim.
This may be splitting hairs but didn't the SoB have special models made just for him such as the FX and 456 wagon? You could argue that if they were modified models from the factory they really aren't production F40s. The interior looks completely different in the pictures. If they aren't production F40s, then you could argue all F40s made were indeed red. Just as there exists a single pre-production 288GTO in yellow, these special SoB models exist as a set separate from normal F40s. I guess in the end both sides could be right, depending on if you count them.
Yes, I believe they took a production F40 and modified it, most likely at Pinninfarina... but I still believe ALL F40's left Maranello in red... (could be wrong, but I have not seen any indication of anything other than red..)
there was an article sometime back I believe in either Cavallino or Forza that had the break down of colors for F40. If I recall correctly, a few (i.e. single digits) left the factory in yellow and in black.
I just did a quick search as I remember reading that too. Its in a thread headed "F-40 Colors" and you (Jet-X-) said you thought there was 5 yellow and 2 black factory F40's. All the best Jamie
I had always believed that F40's were only produced in red. Guess I was wrong. I think if I had an F40, I would get it in yellow.
To the best of my knowledge, you are correct. The Sultans cars were modified post production by Pininfarina. All F40's left the line painted Rosso Corsa.
None. All F40s left the factory in red, and in left-hand drive. Yes, even the Sultan's cars were converted after leaving the gates.
Saw the ex Rod Stewart yellow F40 again last night, very enthusiastic owner who likes to drive it! Looks stunning in yellow. Image Unavailable, Please Login
How about the one in Blu Pozzi from Germany? It is said that it came from the factory in that colour.
