Ferrari Dino 246 GT (Series E) - for sale at Hexagon Classics I never had seen a Dino with the bumpers not touching/reaching the air entry in the front. Image Unavailable, Please Login
They presumably bought it at the Brooklands auction last month Historics at Brooklands - Specialist Classic and Sports Car Auctioneers - 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT The front bumpers look to have been mis-aligned on their brackets. They are sitting too far back on the front wings.
The grille opening is correct. It just looks odd because the bumpers have been mounted incorrectly. I love the line in the ad - "Possibly The Finest Car Currently Offered For Sale Anywhere." A bold claim when the following items are not correct - Hard to say for certain but it looks like the headlights fitted are not the correct original Carello lights Lower satin blacking lines are incorrect Satin blacking lines are missing from all of the shutlid areas Underside of the engine lid has been painted gloss black when it should be satin black Reproduction steering wheel with a reproduction horn push Interior has been retrimmed in what looks to be a non-original leather colour but could be Tabacco? It's hard to tell from the photo. Inner sills are covered in carpet instead of black Dino vinyl Edging trim on the carpets is the wrong colour for those carpets vs factory finish Plastic heel pads on the carpets are not the correct set Door cappings are trimmed in the wrong material Seat centre cushions are mounted incorrectly Dash looks to have been recovered in alcantara instead of "mousehair" Quarterlight window catches are missing Window winding mechanism blanking covers missing Original Cromodora wheels and stainless hubcaps have been replaced by Campagnolo wheels (modern reproductions) Cam covers have been painted black when they should be bare aluminium Stainless exhaust fitted as opposed to original ANSA system Car has the wrong owners manual (should be red cover not blue cover) Various hoses in the engine bay should be braided Sticker on top of carb air box lid is wrong for a UK car .....etc..... It looks like a really nice car and the list above could be rectified by a buyer with an eye for detail. From the records I have it was delivered new in Rosso Chiaro with black vinyl interior.
I'm getting pretty tired of the claim that a particular car is 'the best anywhere' and feel that those who make such a claim should have their feet put to the fire to prove it. What ever happened to 'nice clean car' and leave it at that. All these BS theatrics by car sellers is nothing new but I have seen too many people misled into thinking their turd was really a gem.
don't forget the missing qtr light catches!! As you say a bold claim, I overheard a similar suggestion at goodwood last week as well.
