for those who wrapped their GTC4Lussos in full xpel, did you remove the factory film near the rear wheel arch or did you just wrap over it? and did you use matte xpel for the chin and side skirts?
I did my entire FF in Xpel ultimate. Any factory film was removed and I went with the standard gloss everywhere. I did a thicker film on the surfaces near the road and under the front air dam. A big FYI there was not a single piece of film large enough to do the hood in one piece. I've had these guys do numerous cars for me and they said the FF, Viper and a few others the hood is a problem. I ended up with a small seam near the aft end of the hood which isn't ideal but it's my daily driver and I wanted every painted surface wrapped so I accepted it. I'll be curious to learn what they say about your lusso hood.
Sam deal on my FF. Removed any traces of factory film. Like TurboDoc said, no one piece can do the entire hood. So somewhere there is a small seam. I haven't found it. My guy just informed me... I also had Ceramic Pro'd coating sprayed over the Xpel.
Yea car came like that....not as bad in real life as the pic due to the glare but noticeable.....they did not clear bra the corner pieces....doesn't bother me that much to get it done.....yet
I did my Lusso in Xpel. They removed the factory film in front of the rear wheels, but I asked them to put a double layer in this area, so that I can change just the top layer if needed, as the bottom layer is a massive piece going all the way to the A pillars. We also discussed the hood situation, and there is no other solution than having a splice 6in away from the windshield, as the hood is 66in long and the Xpel film comes in 60in large film maximum. Im going to have a full xpel body wrap on my Lusso this monday, I just got the car this afternoon Good point on having double film on the original location of the factory stone guard. Did you wrap your black chin and skirts with matte xpel????
I had Xpel ultra applied to my entire FF. The expert installers were able to stretch the hood piece so there is no seam. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have Clearguard Nano SR on the whole car and no visible seams on any of the body panels including the hood.
Interesting on the stretch. But does that weaken the film at all? Decrease protection because it’s thinner? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
