We are doing timings belts, fuel cell replacment, clutch rebuild, and repairing a pesky set of oil leaks that have been an issue since the owner bought it. The last time the car had any service work done was back in 2008.

Stunning work! I understand why you don’t like the tributo that much when you get to work on that!

Yes. It is a honeycomb set up with bonded aluminum. Like I said.. it's more aircraft then car. With the engine sub structure out of the car..I can flex the entire rear half of the car by hand without much effort. Kinda scary with all that glass back there.

Clearances are extremely tight, and the amount of fasteners is insane compared to the equivalent Ferrari engine drop. Not sure I would really enjoy taking one of these apart on the regular.

Apparently Don has a lock down on the parts supply chain. Heck even the timing belts we got for the engine have his name on them. Tires?? He is the only guy who can sell you the OE spec tire for the car.

He has had the the clutch pack for 3 months..and I'm damn sure its the same as a 348 clutch pack. Wish I had saved the last clutch replacment I did on the 348 so I could match it up.

I will try Jag Haritage. Thank you for the help. I'm also waiting on the fuel cell..since before I took the thing apart.

What's the deal with the timing belts on that engine? Looks like there are two of them that just go to an idler? Is there a third hidden timing belt that goes from the crank to each of the two idlers?

Finaly parts ate starting to trickle in. We manged to have the valve covers straightened by local machine manufacturing company. They use a very large oven too heat the covers and the press them flat again..they did a great job.

Clutch pack arrived along with the fuel cell a couple weeks later. So I started with that job. Not fun at all.

You have to work from both inside and in the engine compartment. The pictures show exactly why these cells need to be changed as recommended. Every 5 years. This one was well over due.

The tank foam clogged up the fuel lines really bad. So much so that during the fuel draining process using the factory pumps..I thought the tank was empty..but nope. I ended up making a huge smelly mess when removed the in tank fuel pump mount..fuel went everywhere..

    What a headache .
There was a time when I was kinda sorta looking at them when they were 200k.
There was ONE factory approved service shop in the USA. I called them just to get a feel for servicing .
The main guy steered me away . Said they had been waiting over a year for a water pump . NLA from jaguar .
