I am getting the itch again. I would like to find something like a 68 cadillac convertible, or something fun (and automatic stomp and go) for under $10K.
Perhaps you have a neighbor, a friend, or a good lead...
I have looked at Galaxies, Allantes, even Corvairs !

You know, the Yugo convertible was under that much new. And from the hoots of laughter everywhere, I guess it was great fun. What a car! :D

How about a Miata or something along those lines? I've heard all the crap about only gay guys driving them, but they look like a very fun, affordable sports car. There are enough of them out there where you should be able to find one 5 years old or so for around $10k

    Thanks !
I had an Alfa for 12 years. I am ashamed to say how much I have put into it. I think it would be neat to own an American car for a change. The Miatas are a terriffic value, but the appeal of a torque enriched lazy cruiser cannot be denied, particularly with the Maserati and Ferrari in the stable (both manual transmission beasts).
Maybe even a *****ing Camaro. I would need a whole new wardrobe, of course....

How about a '75 El Dorado Convertible.

I'm pretty sure it was '75 that had the 500cu (biggest mofo of an engine at the time?)

Anyway, check it out on craiglist. Be wary of scammers though.

I have 3 of their albums:
Fave lyrics are by Tom Waits (Frank's Wild Years, f.e.), but the Dead Milkmen have some good ones, too:
"I am a right wing pigeon
    from outer space
    sent to destroy
    the human race..."

    And here is Tom Waits

TOM WAITS lyrics - "Frank's Wild Years (For Frankie Z.)"

Well Frank settled down in the Valley
    and hung his wild years
on a nail that he drove through
    his wife's forehead
    he sold used office furniture
out there on San Fernando Road
    and assumed a $30,000 loan
at 15 1/4 % and put down payment
on a little two bedroom place
his wife was a spent piece of used jet trash
    made good bloody marys
kept her mouth shut most of the time
had a little Chihuahua named Carlos
that had some kind of skin disease
and was totally blind. They had a
    thoroughly modern kitchen
    self-cleaning oven (the whole bit)
    Frank drove a little sedan
    they were so happy

One night Frank was on his way home
from work, stopped at the liquor store,
picked up a couple Mickey's Big Mouths
drank 'em in the car on his way
to the Shell station, he got a gallon of
gas in a can, drove home, doused
everything in the house, torched it,
    parked across the street, laughing,
    watching it burn, all Halloween
    orange and chimney red then
Frank put on a top forty station
    got on the Hollywood Freeway
    headed north
    Never could stand that dog

Use the Force, Luke, and run like hell

As for the Caddy convertible, are you going for the Ricardo Tubbs look?

    Luke, those lyrics are... disturbing!

How's the search going? There's a few gas stations and small dealerships in downtown Burlingame that seem to have nice stock, but lately all I have seen are old British cars--Jags, Triumphs, etc. Any interest?

....needs to have automatic, 4 seats, and a drop top, perhaps more than a 4 cyls.
Of course, a nice Etype would make me forget that....or a Tr6, I have always liked the styling....
It all comes down to the fact that I bought my wife a diamond Baume et Mercier watch and I plan to stick in the glovebox of a new toy. I got until June 11.
    :)

    thx

4 Seats? too bad. Here's a pretty clean 93 Toyota MR2 Turbo. Not too much flair bolted on this one, which is good. I had one for 4 years, and it was a riot to drive - a legit driver's car, unlike the souped up Civics you see around town.
