Fchatters, As a result of the overwhelming positive reaction received from last years event, I've been asked to invite those that are interested to attend the Wounded Warrior/Operation Kindness event again this year! The troops truly enjoyed seeing some wonderful cars come out as well as meeting the drivers. In fact, it was such a success, that they are making additional spaces available for the car portion of the event. In talking with some of the drivers that attended last year I know the event had a profound effect on them as well. If your schedule permits, please come out and support these brave men and women. The event will be held on Saturday, May 22nd from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. If you have an interest in attending the event please post to this thread or send me a pm. There are certain rules and restrictions that I will discuss with you once I've been notified of your interest. Thanks very much, Court
I have not been to this particular event but I was fortunate enough to volunteer at Walter Reed last year. If you can afford the time, I would recommend going. Being able to reach out to these guys is really life changing. Seeing the pain, resolve, continuing bravery and camaraderie present there is truly sobering.
Damn, I am moving a client's car that weekend. Sorry, I would have made it for sure again this year. Great talking to the folks there last year that serve us proudly. Good luck, and I plan on being there next year! MB
Thanks very much! Those that went last year found it to be a very rewarding experience and the troops really enjoyed seeing the Ferrari's and Lambo's that came out.
Matt, Sorry to hear that your schedule won't allow you to make it this year. I hope all goes well with moving your client's car. I'll definitely have at least one other event before the summer is over, perhaps I'll see you then! Court
Yes sir, I look forward to seeing you and the Maserati out at the event. I will be in touch later this week or early next with full instructions. Thanks again! Court
I have not firmed up my plans for that weekend. I may be able to swing my attendence your way if you would allow a modified "P" car..
Hi David, Absolutely, there are already a number of P cars planning to attend so definitely, if your schedule permits, we'd love to have you. I'll be posting additional information later this week. Thanks again, Court
Bump for a great cause! We could still use some Ferrari and other exotics cars out at the event. Please feel free to PM me or respond directly to this thread if you are interested in coming out to support the troops. powerpig, autowerks9 - You have PM's! Thanks again, Court
If you are looking for participation, I have a 997 C4S. Not insulted if it is too ordinary for the event. I was an Iraq vet from 2004 and can tell you car magazines were in higher demand than porn and got you in less trouble. Not sure who came up with this idea but it is great. I'm sure the guys love it.
I understand there's a car event at Walter Reed this weekend - 22 May to meet with the guys recovering from combat injuries and show-off our cars. What do we need to do to register our vehicles for the event? Thanks
Absolutely, I still have a few spaces left. Nothing ordinary about a 997 Please PM me with your full name, best phone# and email address. I will send you a copy of the details/instructions via email. Thanks for your support! Court
Kurt, Same as above, please PM me your full name, make/model, best phone# and email address and I will send you the full details/instructions to your email addy. Thanks very much, Court
Will do Brendan! I have all your info from last year. I will email you the details/instructions for this year's event momentarily. I look forward to seeing the F355 again! Court
I've submitted my info and will be there. For those of you on the fence about this, I think it's a great service to those who have served. I'm not in the Army National Guard, but have been working for them for the past 14 years. My boss was killed in Iraq. I'm sure that we and his family would have been thrilled if he came back injured, but alive. Please set any feelings you have about this war and show up for a good cause. Thanks
Thanks Kevin for your interest in coming out and supporting the troops! I appreciate the inspired comments as well, you are absolutely right! Court
Court: Let's see how far the boundaries go - does a Lotus Elise qualify? I'd be interested in attending, but not at the expense of diluting the exotic quotient of the cars attending. (BTW, your message box is full.) Bob Collum
Hi Bob, Absolutely, please PM me your best phone# and your email address. I just deleted a bunch of messages, so PM away. Once I have your information I will email you the details/instructions for the event. I have a Lotus Elise and a Lotus Exige already committed, so you won't be alone Thanks, Court
All, The Wounded Warrior Event for tomorrow is completely booked Thank you for supporting the troops! Court
This was a nice event and I am glad that I went. Three Lotus, 5 Ferrari, 1 Maserati, 4 corvettes, bunch of porches, Thunderbird, a few BMW's and a Supra were there. The soldiers, and their families, loved it and it was a wonderful chance to talk with them and answer any questions they had. It really was a wonderful event.
I agree. It was both fun and humbling. I really enjoyed making new friends, especially with the soldiers. You can count me in for all future events like this. I was the minority with the one Maserati.
