Depreciate? Have you seen the prices of 997.2 GT3RS these days? They go for more than they sold for, and they are only 5 years old.
If you are talking about run of the mill 911 or the Turbo, then yes they depreciate just like Ferrari's do. They also appreciate over time like Ferrari's do. Take a look at al the air cooled cars and how they have sky rocketed recently.

991gt3 very comparable to scud. differences are looks which is subjective anyway (give me ferrari style any day) and fact that most people see a gt3 and think 911 which is fairly run of the mill. scud or 430 makes no difference. all ferraris are special

    The correct comaprison to a Scud is a GT3RS not a GT3.

Having owned a 997.2 C2S and having made faced this same choice (991 GT3 vs. Ferrari 430 Scuderia - Rennlist Discussion Forums) - ended up getting an '08 Scud, I definitely think there are pluses to both -

    For GT3
+ Less attention seeking (positive for me)
    + More/cheaper reliability
+ Lesser deprecation worry while adding lots of miles
+ More comfortable for cruising (to/from the track)
+ PDK works great all the time (F1 works only best in SF mode)
+ Probably faster for most drivers on the track
+ 500 RPM higher rev limit
    + Better steering feel

    For Scud
+ Will feel more raw/emotional/special (all the time)
+ More race-car feel on the track (Shift lights, louder engine, SF shifts)
+ Ferrari perks - VIP trackdays at Ferrari Challenge weekends, Ferrari concierge (haven't used it yet)
+ Knowledge that a) it's a Ferrari and b) Michael Schumacher took a personal interest in the car

If you are going to have only one of these in your lifetime, go with the Scud. But since you've already owned one and depending on how much of a trackrat you are, I'd go with the GT3.

Is getting the GT3 in addition to the Scuderia instead of replacing it an option?

From your past threads it sounds like you are after sheer performance on the track, and in equal hands the GT3 will give you that better lap time. You might not have that same connection / level of involvement you have in the Scuderia, but that's the trade-off.

I have never driven the new RS, looks mean though, I want one that's for sure, but only as an addition to, not a replacement of my Scuderia. There is a very very special visceral connection in the scud you just can't replicate in other ferraris let alone other cars. You but only need to drive other cars briefly then get back behind the wheel of a Scuderia to understand.

You might consider my 2015 goal, which is the poor man's way of going about it...getting a GT4 which is 70% GT3 ;)

Bart12's way though is definitely the ideal way imho!

    This thread needs some pics!!!

If you are just needing a track toy then a GT4 is a very good option, both for price and maintenance.

At this point in our life, its all about what we need. You can care less what people would think. But you cannot get wrong on a GT3 or a scuderia.

I still was unable to believe that I was able to get an allocation for a GT3 after waiting 18 months for one. I waited another 5 months to get delivery. I almost missed it too as I did not want to trade my SCUDERIA and it did alot of extra hours of work just to do that.

    Good luck on your choice.
