Ok, your at a car show and there are a bunch of Ferrari's. A stranger, whom has been hanging around the other Ferrari guys all day, comes up to you and explains that he is looking at buying your model of a Ferrari. He then asks you if he can sit in your car to see how it feels.
Would let him sit in your car?

This actually happened, and the stranger was a friend of mine. The owner said "no, your not sitting in my car"

As ridiculous as I thought the answer of "no" was, I could not blame the owner for saying "no." Not the answer I would of said but that was the owners choice.

Not at car shows (never been to one), but I've not only let complete strangers sit in my car, I've
given a fair number if rides.

Anyone like what you saw at the show is just narrow minded IMO..... it's a CAR
    for heaven's sake

I tend to toss the keys at them too.

Sadly, the new interior has made me less likely to walk away and leave the doors open. I need to pick up another beater Fcar that I won't be worried about.

To me, if you bring a car to a show, you should be willing to let people sit in the car if they are nice and appear sincere. That's part of the deal. Now, if you get a line of a hundred people, that's a different story. But, for an individual or two, I don't see the big deal.

But, if you don't want that, then don't bring the car.

I've been asked many times and I can't remember a time when I said "no" or regretted saying "sure".

That being said, people attending the show should respect other people's property and not simply do something without permission of the owner.

I will say that I've had people walk up to me and say they are thinking of buying a similar car and I've offered to let them sit in it. I think it's one of the responsibilties that goes with ownership -- helping to guide others to reach their dream.

After a car show at a resort, hanging out getting my stuff together a mini van pulls up and the child in the front passenger states "I love your car!" I said would you like to sit in it?
In his excitement he asked his mom and the she replies sure.

At this point he gets out of the mini van and then to my surprise the slding door opens and 5 more kids get out !!!! I started laughing and then I made the day of 6 kids, boys and girls.... Priceless!!

Sure I would let people sit in my car, at my discretion..

Love it!!! Although I do not own an Fcar it is still just a car and saying no imho just feed's the beast that Fcar owner's are above all the rest. That myth will hopefully be dispelled some day soon.

I've never had a problem having folks sit in it. As long as they ask nicely. ;)

Back around '90-'91 when I saw my first F40 I was happy just being in the same area code with such a fine stallion and then got all stary eyed when the owner told me I could sit in it.
God bless that man for his generosity

Meh...sit in it? I often let complete strangers drive mine. Ok, I'll grant you that they are pretty ladies and that does take some of the sting out of it. Makes it a win-win. :D

Once I came out of Lowes to find a guy on his back taking snap shots of
my 328... watched him for a while - then walked up. We talked for a while,
and then off we went on a VERY spirited drive. It was really fun for me,
and I know it was for him. (I had a thread about it at the time here on F-Chat).
    Never even got his name....

To me, that's part of what it's all about. Sharing.

We are the fortunate few to even be able to afford the luxury of these cars, to not share them with those who dream of them is just shameful.

I've never turned down a request to sit in my car. I've even offered people who were staring at the car but afraid to ask a chance.

I've had kids fresh from soccer practice climbing in the interior in their cleats and taken whole entire families for drives in my Mondial. A matter of fact, most trips to the gas station turn into photo ops and Q&A sessions.

I doubt there is anyone more obsessive about their car than me, but you know what, it is still just a fricken car, it can be cleaned, fixed, repaired and even replaced. As I've been reminded of all too often lately, there are a lot bigger things to worry about in life than someone scuffing up your fancy car. If giving some stranger a ride, or letting a kid sit in the driver's seat and dream, brightens someone's day or gives them some escape, even if its momentary, I am all for it.

Yes, I have let total strangers sit in my car. I have not said no yet. One kid and a friend wanted to drive my car and I said no to both. I have let my family drive it. A brother and a couple of nephews. I would probably let any of my Ferrari friends drive it because they have Ferraris and know how to drive them with respect.

Two years ago during "Car Week" in Monterey (i.e. Concorso) I went to the Khakis Menswear Italian Car Event. It is a huge event that is probably 99% Ferraris. Anyway, I showed up the lot was packed with a sea of red. The organizers waved me in and parked me right in the middle of the parking lot where I was surrounded by probably 80+ Ferraris. When I pulled in, parked and undid my seatbelt, I look up and there is a crowd of maybe 30-40 people surrounding the car. I was TOTALLY embarrassed but I got out of the car and a family with their two kids come up and said "My kids were going nuts when you pulled up and were saying 'Dad there is a Lamborghini!' Can they take a picture by your car?" I said, why don't they take a picture IN the car. So they did and, immediately people and their wives, kids, etc. formed a line to sit in the Lamborghini. It was hilarious but cool. I spent the entire 3 hours of the event letting people sit in the car and take pics while answering questions from them all. I must have had almost 100 people, dads, moms, etc. sit in my car that afternoon. And that isn't even an exaggeration.

The cherry on top was a mom who said, "You have the BEST car at this entire event and you are the only one who is letting people sit in your car....that is AWESOME! Some of the Ferrari owners were telling us they didn't want us to take a picture of their car and you are letting everyone SIT in yours! Are all Lamborghini owners this cool?". I said, "Of course!"

    Ha!

I would not want to be associated with a group that said not only can you not sit in my car, but you cannot take a photo of my car. How do you stop people taking photos of a car at a car show?

Cannot match people lining up to sit in my car, but dozens have sat in it and most of my neighbors, especially the cute ones, have gone for a ride.

I was in Monterey during Car Week two years ago. I met an owner who not only let me sit in his Ferrari, but he also took me for a ride down Highway 1 over Bixby Bridge toward Big Sur.

And the best part, on the way back he let me DRIVE it down Ocean Avenue in Carmel. Oh, and not only was it a Ferrari, it was a Ferrari F50 :)

That's right, a complete stranger let me, a 20 year old kid, drive his Ferrari F50!! First Ferrari I ever drove, quite the memorable experience to say the least.
