Wondering if they would be bringing out a spider version of F12.. Thats a car i would loveee to have! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would think in the same way as a 599 Aperta. Very limited at the very end of production, after a ''GTO'' version. And for lots of dollar...
I understand this is not the case. Ferrari, or rather Luca, has said they do not want to be obvious, simply repeating what they have done in the past. I find it hard to believe they won't do a convertible F12, a car I too want, but I think a GTO is very unlikely, that moniker is not meant to be liberally applied. Currently therefore, I am confused. I have information which strongly suggested a convertible is a possibility, but then that flies in the face of not being obvious and repetitive.
SP is used for the one offs rather than a limited production model. "GTO" moniker or not, I would be surprised if Ferrari didn't roll out a special hardcore F12, and it would seem they would be foolish to not make some sort of spider.
I wouldn't pay much attention to what LdM says... For the F430 he said there'd be no 430CS. A 430 Scuderia came. For the 458 he said there'd be no 458 Scuderia. Enter 458 Speciale. I'm sure for the 599 he never wanted a limited 599 Superamerica (or Challenge Scuderia). Out came the 599 GTO and 599 Aperta. The 599 GTO was very well received (along with the CS and Scuderia at the time), so it would be foolish not make a ''GTO'' type car, whatever they'll call it. Same goes for a Aperta esque car...I forgot exactly what they went for new but it's easy money. That said, I also really hope for a true F12 convertible. The render that was floating about here somewhere looked fantastic IMO...
I think the question is to whom did LdM say it. I think there is a market for a convertible F12 but they will make you wait because they first have to satisfy the demand for the coupe. My speculation is after that, they will do a handling improvement package. Perhaps after that a convertible and then perhaps after that a special model.
Do the V12s have the safe lifecycle as the V8s (i.e. about 5-6 years) or are they longer/shorter? How far along are we in the F12's lifecycle now?
One of my friends saw an F12 bodyshell built be a convertible in Maranello a few weeks ago. It's coming.
It was also apparently shown amongst a presentation of a series of California studies, but whether it actually makes it into production is another matter.
Just a bump to this thread question. Seven months later - any news besides the F60 one off's? The F12 Spyder - with a design study that keeps the back of the car without humps behind the seat ala the California - is my dream waiting for a reality. Any news or rumblings?
When spider version of 458 replacement will arrive there will be no regular Ferrari with naturally aspirated engine and open top, maybe Ferrari should seriously think about unlimited F12 roadster.
Here you have some very well done renderings done by using the configurator Photo 4 - Fantasme : Ferrari F12 Spider - actualité automobile - Motorlegend
They've just mashed a Cali T rear top with the F12. F12 doesn't have back seats. I prefer the previous style.
The car we are talking about is the f60. Look it up. There are only 10 made at a price of $2.5 million, considerably more than laFerrari
