World of Speed closing permanently.

I just saw that. Really unfortunate. They have a great program to teach auto shop to high school kids in the area, which I hope someone picks up and continues to operate.

This is sad news indeed. Their planned Ferrari exhibit will never happen now. I am so glad that I took the time to visit a few times - they had some incredible displays:

The Ferrari exhibit was open for a few days, wasn't it? I was supposed to go down there in mid-March, but we all know what happened...

 

This is a shame. I never understood how they could make that much money , unless the owner had deep pockets and owned the real estate. Of course this will affect Portland Cars and Coffee too. I assumed cars and Coffee was canceled, but checking their web site it says NOTHING about any China Virus restrictions.

 

The people who set up World of Speed (and own the real estate) have extremely deep pockets. However, they somehow (don't ask me) though it could be self-sustaining, even though that was a pipe dream. I always assumed they did it so they could write off their car collection, but apparently that wasn't how they thought about it.
