i think that's dick ridell's bug...not totally sure but the plate sparked something. his 35c was a junek car or something.....hi james....with all the dead steve jobs media coverage, i saw some old regis mc kenna guys interviewed....i wonder if we will ever know all the dark secrets....and where is woodley park? should we know?
Well sure, because it hosts the french Italian car show the first Sunday of November in Van Nuys CA , some very interesting cars roll out of their garages from the surrounding neighborhoods. tritone; wanna take a shot at what the "hisso" engine is? you are probably the most informed on these things...[i'm more a curtiss guy].....it looks like a big one tho.... betcha there's a SU or four lurking in there....
Any info on the Bugatti with the griffin hood ornament? I have a picture of its oil pan being attended to at this years Monterey Historics and couldn't turn up any info.
type 49...can't identify the coachwork, but not bugatti....english perhaps...paste it on the "guess the car" thread and someone there will know.
well, there's big and there's big...the early hisso aero engines came in several "sizes"...110/ 150/ 180/ 225/ 300 hp..this is how we would identify them, but back then the weight was as important and often an engine was identified as a "400 pound" engine...the hisso in the "roadster" is certainly a larger hp unit, typically found in wwI aircraft [spads]...after the war, many new engines in crates were available cheap...some replaced the lesser curtiss OX5 in civilian planes, quite a few went into boats..[google "baby bootlegger"] and a few made it into "specials, as shown. technically very cool units....
