I bought a $10 raffle ticket to support the San Diego Auto Museum last year.
Found out today I won a nicely restored 1931 Model A sedan. Not as much HP as my 1999 550.
Anybody looking for a Model A????

Are you going to drive it around any?

At my son's urging, I recently entered a raffle for a 1940 Ford convertible. I'm not sure what I would do if I won, but fortunately it's not likely.

That's a Victoria...very nice car, fairly rare, looks great. Don't get lowballed. Drive it too, kinda fun for LJ/Palomar trips?

You spend $10 for the raffle, I'll give you $1000 for it, think of the return you're getting, in cold, hard cash.

j/k. That's a sweet little ride there, hopefully it finds a good home.

This is a rare opportunity. In a world constantly seeking to go faster, there's a certain charm and detachment that comes with taking your sweet time in an automobile like this. I say keep it and make small reversable mods to make it driveable for you. You might even get bit by the classic/antique car bug. I say keep it.

You should show it off and drive it until you are bored with it. Then you should donate it back to the museum. After all, they are in need of money.

Remember I said i was 6'6"! My legs dont fit under the steering wheel! So I cant drive it. I dont want to modify it...but i'll put it in the garage for a few weeks and see what happens.
I did have my eyes on a nice Rolls-Royce in the museum, but they wont trade!
Anyway, my daughter is 15 and getting her permit next week, so i'll probably sell it and buy a used Beetle.

My 15 yr old daughter is 6'2"...I dont think a mini is a good fit....remember I (6'6")have to drive with her for 6 months....we both fit in a Beetle very well...and its a tall car...easy for other drivers to see...safer for a beginner.
And she doesnt want to drive a Model A to high school*

I'm sure it's a safe first car for a high schooler. Just made sure the airbags have been serviced.

I am 6 3 and I fit fine in it (but indiviuals are different torso/leg/neck ratios).
Just feel its worth a try. :) Best of luck with whatever you choose.

$18k is more than a little high for a 31 Vicky, unless its a near 100 point car, and has some hsitory.

make sure you dont get TAXED on $18k for the transfer. Talk to yer accountant.

Had a similar situation when I won a custom Harley. The IRS agreed with me and my accountant. The raffle organizers will ALWAYS qoute way ABOVE top dollar for thier prize, for THEIR tax purposes.
