Hello Everyone, Today I installed a new washer bag and pump in my recently acquired '84 400i. When testing it I discovered that the black wire inside the stalk control on the column had come adrift from its contact. I had wondered why the housing was apart. Re-soldering it should not be a big deal. Can anyone tell me tell me how this washer switch works and how to re-assemble it correctly? Also, the wipers are slow; they must be relatives of the power windows. Is there a speed up fix for the wipers? Thanks, Greg
One common problem with older wiper systems is that the lubricant inside the gear housing, shaft ends, spindle housings etc., has simply dried up causing excessive drag. Since the wiper system is not covered in any of the workshop manuals it is simply going to be take it off and open it up to see what the problem is.
