Hi. I recently had a new original Ferrari trim fitted to my QV coupe windshield.

The colour is: Black, solid colour (non metallic), Matt finish

So you mean the metal strip that holds in the glass. Mine was unpainted from Ferrari UK, they stated to do as per window surrounds, which is what mine was from original.

Hi, my 83 QV had a matt black finish, but the paint 'cracked' to reveal a chrome 'underneath'. Ferrari eh!

That sounds like mine! Not sure if it was chromed, S/Steel or polished aluminium. Just remember it requiring significant prep to ensure paint bond, as per window surrounds. In fairness it was more structural than the body work that surrounded it - hence my cracked screen!!!!

Actually it's the glass holding the metal strip. And yes, that's what I mean.

It's a polished type of stainless steel. Definitely not chromed nor aluminium.

Stu, have you replaced it? And if so, where did you source the screen?

Yes I did, it was a (long) while ago. Ironically it all came through Autoglass (I think it was) for about £35 and no damage to my classic car excess!!!

I sourced the trim for them from Eurospares I think as Marenello had no stock, but they got the glass - not happy at the price. They initially had a non OEM but no sunstrip so I refused to accept. Then they used Maranello. However, I had quite a bit of work done to the body metal at the top of the screen and one of the lower corners due to water ingress from storage on a slope where water could sit (previous owner I hasten to add). So the car went off for a few weeks before it all got sorted. I think the actual screen fitting took one guy about 20 mins!

    Sorry, that probably doesn't help.

Sorry, Maranello, I mean Ferrari UK, not Italy.

Interesting, I always thought the trim was anodized aluminium. So its just painted? Is this the same for all the side window trims as well?

Yes, all painted. It guarantees consistent color over time among all trim regardless of material.

Not great pics, but these are from my 82 QV's brochure. Best shots of the window surround.
